We've been gifted this lovely podcast from one of our stateside friends, namely the prolific beat maker extraordinaire @florafm who has seen a number of wicked releases on some of our favourite labels including Planet Euphorique and Kalahari Oyster Cult. He's turned in just over an hour of soulful electronic music that ranges from bumpy house to kaleidoscopic broken techno tracks. Here's what Taylor had to say about the mix: 

"This one's an introverted mix for alone-time on the bus, the plane or the train. Creating a relationship of Industrial Techno, Electro, and Jungle, RBI is known for DJ sets of heavy uptempo dance music and ethereal absorbing ambient soundscapes. 

RBI has built a strong following with incredible performances across events such as Hopkins Creek Festival, Pitch Music and Arts Festival, Melbourne Music Week, Butter Sessions, Day Break festival and so many more.

Co-founding Fluxx in 2019, RBI has been a catalyst in celebrating new and upcoming talent in the electronic music scene across Australia. Recently, Fluxx released an incredibly staked 28-track compilation that was funded by Creative Victoria that we cannot recommend highly enough. Noise, idiomatic synth and electronic percussion; industrial anti-anthems of perseverance, desire and despair.

Octonomy is the moniker of Heidi Lorenz, a Brooklyn-based sound artist. Octonomy spans multiple genres; harsh noise to darkwave to industrial and techno. She uses found sounds, field recordings, voice, power tools, samples, noise, reverb and distortion sequenced through hardware synthesizers to create pulsing, rhythmic soundscapes. Her DJ sets tend to be high-energy, harsh and punishing. Thematically, her work delves into themes of occultism, anti-religion & anti-capitalism.

In addition to her sound design, songwriting and DJ work as Octonomy, she has done a number of commissioned sound pieces and longform ambient compositions for experiential spaces, performances and immersive installations, and has incorporated her soundscapes by way of utilizing various different responsive software and hardware-based technologies.

Sade’s voice is still ingrained in music culture to this day. Her music has been on the back of the minds of different generations since the early 1980’s. Her music has been an element of sampling throughout Hip-Hop’s evolution. Her music has the right amount of melancholy and sweetness for flipping potential.
Throughout her career, Sade has perfectly articulated love and its complexities. It’s that relatability that makes her an icon and a cherished artist even to this day.
Navigating the music scene through her different identities, Sade’s music was constantly evolving and never conforming to a certain genre. She set trends instead of following them and paved the way for young women musicians.
Through growth and maturity, Sade’s music speaks more to us every day, as all infamous artists do.
