Last Friday marked an exciting milestone for our burgeoning record label, Never Late. We proudly unveiled the inaugural chapter of our musical journey, an awe-inspiring masterpiece brought to life by none other than one of our imprint's co-founders, the illustrious Griff Fulton, known to many as Aspetuck. As we embark on this exciting venture, each forthcoming release will be accompanied by a tantalizing blend of music, an intimate interview, and an exploration into the creative realms of the artists who will be the torchbearers of Never Late.

While it's admittedly challenging to remain entirely objective about this first mix, we can confidently say that it showcases Aspetuck's most refined work behind the decks to date. This mix is a masterclass in balance, serving as an ideal sonic bridge from day into night, perfectly tailored for an unforgettable party experience. Big one here. DJ Winggold was joined in the Netil studio this month by none other than the legendary @itsallhalal, purveyor of all things deep and hypnotic. A regular at the most esteemed dancefloors across the globe, she's known for her intuitive sets traversing a wide spectrum of sounds, all tied together by contrasts between dark, dreamy and atmospheric. 

A true multidisciplinary artist, she runs the Mutual Dreaming party series and label, founded North American festival Sustain Release and is also known for her fearsome, shapeshifting live sets. 

Live and direct from the studio, she contributed a typically stellar mix, bringing a lush and deep selection of techno and electro before DJ Winggold heated things up with an expansive set of ravey, psychedelic bass and techno. It's a special one x

Joining us for Tapes #131 is self-confessed vinyl addict and Wigan’s finest, Wes Baggaley. For decades, he’s been familiar to promoters, record store staff and clubbers in Manchester and London, but in recent years he has become a familiar face to a much wider audience.

From 2016 to 2024 he played some of the best regarded underground parties across Europe including the legendary Panorama Bar, Frankfurt’s esteemed Robert Johnson, Munich’s Blitz and Rotte Sonne, NYC Downlow, Horse Meat Disco, Chapter 10, Adonis and many more. Written features across several leading dance music titles have appeared and Wes has done live streamed sets for Mixmag's The Lab and an extremely well received one for Boiler Room. When the Covid 19 pandemic struck Wes did a number of live streams including one for Jerome Hill’s brilliant Don’t label and one for Krake festival, both streamed live from Fold, London. He has also appeared on Berlin’s now legendary Hör and currently holds a long running residency at Bottom Heavy with Dan Beaumont at Dalston Superstore.
