For the third episode of our mix series, we are pleased to welcome the french artist Guerre Maladie Famine.

Guerre Maladie Famine’s DJ sets cross musical genres to sew together the idioms of our fragmented collective identity. The thrilling narrative he composes does not simply point out the porosity of musical genre division. It also invites us to intimately question the integrity of our musical identities, all too often resulting from blind determinism and empty certitudes.

"In correlation with ex magazine first release, I wanted through this mix to explore the fragmented nature of our identities in the digital realm using old-school breakcore mixed with OSTs from animes and games that dig into the same theme (Serial Experiments Lain, Kaiba, Perfect Blue, Zelda)

With the increasing use of technology in our daily lives, where online personas, social media, and virtual communities have become an integral part of everyday life allowing individuals to create and project different versions of themselves, each fragmenting into multiple and often conflicting identities, boundaries between reality and the virtual are increasingly blurred, in a world where identity is constantly in a flux i feel like these works have more relevance than ever before (encourage u to watch them, especially Lain and Kaiba)"

EX003 - GUERRE MALADIE FAMINE

Back on our Radio 80000 takeover with a mix by Chananja and Tember. The sonic fusion of two worlds. While Tember goes pluckily from erratic polyrhythms to freak folk or east coast club music, Chananja draws inspiration from delicacy and chaos to craft intricate sonic worlds, taking listeners on a journey from noise to poetry, broken beats to experimental folk.

Together they created a mix exploring the in-between of experimental forms of sound and music.

"The mix is caracterized by Vivaldi’s seminal ‘Four Seasons’ where every cycle starts with one of Vivaldi’s pieces and could be looped afterwards to start a new year. In this mix we traverse through freak folk, plainchant, noise, modern club, avant-garde vocalists, broken beats and anything that reminds us of a time or season.'"

Expect nothing less than the unexpected.
