With a penchant for off-kilter drum and bass, bass, dub and dubstep, sina meticulously curates sets that mix and match elements of atmospheric trip hop, murky post-DnB and the mischievous 2-step sounds of the 90/00s. Witnessing sina grace the decks at Inward Goods festival was a nostalgic luxury - I felt like I’d stepped into some form of magical Y2k swamp party, where only the best of early 2000s drum and bass were being thrown down. Sina’s contributions to the community extend beyond the decks and into the realm of party planning and label curation (Secret World) whilst also forming ⅓ of the band dregs. Human Lessons #106 - Andriy K.

For this 4th episode of Puzzle, tobha has invited Alex Sourbis, a long time active member of the Brussels electronic music scene. For this episode, the puzzle is a bit more "classic", the first hour focussing on ambient tunes selected by tobha.

For the second hour, Alex started from a "chill D&B" playlist he’d been building over the past year. In his own words: "Although most tracks are around 170 BPM, I chose to focus on musical keys and harmonic progressions, shifting the emphasis away from groove. Unsurprisingly, the result is a strong sense of storytelling, with the narrative unfolding through changes in intensity and emotion depending on the harmonies. Alternating between 85 and 170 BPM also adds to the shifts in tone and colour. 
I recorded the mix in one take, moving into more intense IDM-style drums and classic jungle. The goal of that "chill D&B" playlist was to prove to some of my friends that intensity isn’t defined by speed or rhythmic drive. I think I managed to show that by focusing on gentler textures and melodic elements. Of course, I couldn’t resist going harder at times — but I always found my way back to calm and harmony."

French-born and Berlin-based, ophélie is a DJ and producer, known for weaving low-end frequencies, intricate percussion, and rich, bass-driven textures into deeply immersive sets. With roots in dub, UK techno and IDM, her sound moves fluidly between dubstep, hypnotic techno and drum & bass, while drawing subtle influence from ambient, psychedelia, and trance. Her approach to music is organic and emotionally charged built on layered soundscapes, unusual (poly)rhythms, and a strong connection to natural environments. 

Promoter and resident at @refugeworldwide , she hosts Therapy Dog, a show that doubles as an event series at Berlin’s queer listening bar, @kwia.berlin . Her presence extends across platforms like NTS, Kiosk Radio, and Kindred in London, and she’s contributed to Polygonia’s Herbarium and @kinetic_____ mix series. As a producer, her tracks landed on labels including Bait, @pressuredome and @earlyreflex , with her debut EP being release via hundert records in early 2024 and her most recent release on Water Bodies, the first @gravitypleasure compilation.

In this mix, ophélie offers a more introspective journey, flowing through slow, percussive transitions and subtle shades of R&B, neo-soul/wave and some dance nuances, a fresh and unexpected detour from the typical club sound.
