"A few years ago I was traveling for a month in Colombia. When I arrived in Carthagena, I believe it was on a Tuesday, there was a rooftop Techno party in a club on one of their main squares. It was a very pleasant night, where you could look over the whole city with some nice and fresh techno being played. I though it would be awesome to play here, so I just walked to the DJ and told him I am a dj from Holland and i’m staying here the whole week. Is it possible to play? Well, he told me to come back on Friday 23:00 o clock and that he would make sure that i can play. The day of the gig I was very excited and I spend the whole afternoon looking for new tunes in an internet cafe in Carthagena. When it finally was 23:00 I made my way to the club. I told the bouncer that I am DJ-ing tonight. He looked at me and was like, dude what are you talking about, you need to pay to entree fee to the club. Immediately my thoughts were like, oh shit is this still going to happen. In the end I had to pay my own entrance fee, but when I arrived, the DJ from Tuesday said around 01:00 that I could start playing. I ended up playing the whole night long together with him, with an amazing skyline from Carthagena. First I thought it was a scam, but in the end it was one of the most amazing nights I ever played!" - Joris Turenhout
