Drew on a lot of influence from my high-school/university days playing in post-hardcore/scremo bands for this remix (listened to a bunch of Chiodos and Finch in particular).  

Not so much in the actual composition per-say; but rather, wanting to try and capture a certain vibe; a very specific, visceral, emotional response.  

Basically that feeling of being in the pit at a show, soaked in sweat, pushed up against the barricade, head banging like a maniac.

Anyway, originally I had done this remix a few months back for a contest, but only having had a mere few days to complete it start-to-finish…well, let’s just say the end result was way less than satisfactory lol.  

So, rather than releasing a fairly terrible version, (and not wanting to simply scrap the track) I decided to overhaul the whole thing and take a bunch of time to get it sounding right.  

Thankfully, this was the right call.

You’re definitely gonna want to crank this one to 11 - It goes hard AF.  🤘🏻🥳

ILLENIUM X Sueco - Story of My Life (feat. Trippie Redd) [Future Magic Remix]

Continuing with my throwback vibes as of late, I listened to a lot of Dashboard Confessional, Taking Back Sunday and Mayday Parade during the writing of this one (not to mention that the original version already has all kinds of great nods to the pop-punk/emo of the early 2000s).  Essentially I wanted to maintain a lot of the original’s vibe, while giving it a bit more of a more traditional electronic music progression; make it more festival friendly etc.  Really anthemic and uplifting.  Had a ton of fun on this one.

SO excited to finally have mine, Nukage, & Sergio Ochoa’s brand new track “Never Letting Go” out for you all!

What started as a single drop and a verse that I couldn’t figure out where to take, then turned into a classic Future Magic X Nukage collaboration…except we couldn’t find the right vocalist to finish things.

We sat on this song for a what feels like forever - until Sergio came in a was the perfect missing piece to the puzzle.

The whole experience was honestly a great reminder about how the best things in life are always a collaboration of some kind; something you do/create/experience etc. with other people - never something you do alone. 

So this song is our promise to each of you - and to ourselves - of Never Letting Go of this realization; of this indelible part of life; of that very thing in which we find the best of humanity.

Here's my drumstep-meets-future-bass remix of Lynx's "Spectre" featuring Kye Munroe.

I reached out to Lynx a little while ago to tell him how much I liked his music - both as a fan and a fellow producer - particularly his track "Spectre". I mentioned that I would love to remix it and he sent me the stems soon thereafter.

As soon as I opened the remix pack this song basically wrote itself.

Start to finish it was three days for composition and then a day or two for mixing and polishing before sending it off to mastering.

Kye's vocals in particular were just phenomenal to work with. If you haven't heard of her yet, trust me you soon will. Same goes for Lynx.

A big thank you to both of them for letting me re-imagine their work.

Lynx feat. Kye Munroe - Spectre (FUTURE MAGIC Remix)

Kye sent me the stems to remix "Unofficial" following the success of my official remix for Lynx's track "Spectre", on which she was the vocalist and lyricist. She even went so far as recording some new ad-libs and phrases specifically for the remix.  

Can you say kid in a candy store? ;)

The original is very chilled and down-tempo, and, as I always like to do with my remixes, I wanted to take the track in a totally different direction and give listeners something closer to that of a brand new track than a traditional remix. 

I'm incredibly happy with how it turned out and am so thankful to Kye for giving me the opportunity to remix it.

So excited to finally share my first original track in over 9 months with you guys, exclusively being released by Future Bass Records.   

The instrumental was actually done awhile ago, but since I wasn't able to find anyone to do vocals for it, I had no other choice but to just sit on it. 

You see, I love working with good vocals, which is why I'm always remixing tracks - i.e. that was the best way for me to get high quality vocals that were both inspiring and unique.  

Vocals can really be the difference between a good track and a timeless one in my opinion, as - when done right - they can connect you to the song in an intimate and vulnerable way that you just can't get alone with instrumentation (no matter how incredible it might be). 

Thankfully, this all changed when I remixed Varun, AVX & EFX's track "Future Underground", (https://soundcloud.com/futuremagic/varun-ave-efx-future-underground-ft-kass-future-magic-remix), of which Kass was the vocalist for.  Through that we were able to connect, and well, the rest is history.

Here it is guys, my remix of "Save Me" by Gareth Emery, featuring Christina Novelli. 

Gareth's strength as a composer/song-writer is incredible; I did my best in trying to capture that in my remix, while still bringing something new and fresh to the track.  I kept the original key and bpm, but slowed things down to half time and played around with some non-traditional chord progressions I've never tried before.  Christina's vocals were perfect so I didn't do a thing to them.

One of my favorite tracks of 2016, by one of the most talented producers I am lucky enough to call my friend.  

Had an amazing time remixing this track.  Cymba's original progressions and structure gave me all kinds of ideas to go on, and Deverano...well he absolutely killed these vocals - I still get chills every time I hear them. Cymba - "Hush" Feat. Deverano (FUTURE MAGIC Remix)

Soon as I heard Nevve's vocals, I knew exactly what I wanted to do for this remix: A big, emotional, cathartic, sing/shout-along track, reminiscent of much of the music I listened to growing up (I'm looking at you in particular Taking Back Sunday); gang vocals, gnarly drum fills etc.  The lyrics worked perfectly for this, and the few bits of music I used from the remix pack (guitar and violin - killer stems btw, Quix) really helped to shape the song and take it where it needed to go.  

Simply put - I Loved remixing this.

Definitely one of my favourite remixes to date.  Ghastly always has a ton of energy in his productions, and I did my best to make sure that I maintained a similar same vibe in my remix, but with my own spin on things (in this case a bit of 80s stadium rock meets future bass and drumstep). Matt's vocals - as always - are just fantastic, so crafting a new progression etc. around them was a ton of fun, as well as a great lesson in solid pop song-writing.

This was my third time working with the incredibly talented Kass, and as always, she did not disappoint.  I had the instrumental pretty much finished when I got in contact with her, and since I didn't have any specific motifs I wanted in the track, I told her to write whatever the music evoked in her.  

What did she think the track was trying to say?

No less than 3 days later she sent me back what would eventually become "Bury Me", and I can say that this is my personal favourite track to date that I've done with her.

It's been a minute since I entered a remix contest, so when I heard that @wavome was having one for @olivernelson & @tobtok's "Yellow", featuring some truly incredible vocals from @livdawsonofficial, I put everything else on the back-burner and jumped in headfirst.  

The original is such a great future-pop track - subtle, clean, concise; every sound in it has a reason for being there; tight as hell - so I wanted to channel that in my remix and keep things a bit more held-back than my usual tendencies.

Oliver Nelson & Tobtok - Yellow (Feat. Liv Dawson) [Future Magic Remix]

Probably the song I sang most during my university career as an acoustic-toting Seth Cohen look-alike, roaming the dorm hallways, fuelled by copious amounts of cheap beer, hoping that maybe one day, some pretty girl would hear my emo lullabies and come calling after me.  

But mostly I just got drunk and kept people up.  

All joking aside, this is one of my all-time favourite songs, by one of my all-time favourite bands.  

It's a surreal and humbling experience being able to tinker with the acapella from a song I've heard literally hundreds - maybe even thousands - of times.  

Chris' voice is a goddamn national treasure, and I can only hope I did it justice in my reimagining of this iconic emo anthem.
