ARTIST FOR THE WEEK: JULIA KONOR

Julia Konor is a DJ, sound producer and founder of A Casa promotion in Moscow and St. Petersburg. Her birth as a musician began in elementary school when she was learning to play the piano. In the summer of 2019, at one of Itallika's series of parties, she got that musical inspiration. And the decision was made - to learn how to write electronic music and completely immerse herself in this field. Italo disco is the style that influenced her and she worked in this genre for the first year of her career. During the first year of her musical career, Julia played at all key venues in Moscow. She made her debut with the track Disco Pool written by her and promoted by Filtch Records. 
Over the past year could be seen as a frequent guest of many European podcasts, such as: Electric Shapes, Sexy Dinosaur From Outer Space, DARK DISCO.ORG and others. It is important to note that despite the dedication to the italodisco genre, Julia's sets now and then surprise listeners with various deviations and free digressions.

Electro, Ebm, Ghetto - she skillfully mixes Electronic music with different moods, continuing to keep people on the dance floor with her energy.

"Vulgar" [Album]

A remarkable release for VūMantra Records, “Vū - Vulgar” marks the number 50th on the catalog of the label.
Those 7 tracks, composed in 2021 by Vū, were meant to be played in a forest during a summer ritual gathering.
The tracks were made quickly and rawly, collecting old samples from previous trips in Morocco and the Mediterranean coasts, and recordings of Lo-fi percussions, voices and instruments played by Vū himself in studio.
With this material Vū was deliberately searching for a Lo-Fi sound and leave the mix and composition simple, to let the atmospheres and moods created by those samples to speak for themselves.
Among the recordings Vū utilised also some from the singer of “Dead Space Chamber Music” Ellen Southern, which were recorded in few abandoned and hunted places in England, plus few sounds from street musicians in Morocco. The title of the album is taken for its sound not for its meaning, and recalls the first album of the other music project of Vince Gagliardi , The Nent - “Vulner” , underlining a vague distorted reflection of the 2 artworks, like in a old broken mirror.

Vince Gagliardi (a.k.a. Vū) is a 3D artist and music producer of futuristic shamanic electronic music from Berlin. He is also the founder of the label “Vumantra Records”, artistic director of the collective “Modern Bön” and creator of the audiovisual project “The Nent” (Cyclic Law), well-known for its impactful A∖V live performances.

His performances focus on an immersive experience creating endarkening rhythms and low frequencies. Drum machines clash against the voice and percussion that he plays live in order to keep the focus on the moment, as well as for the shamanic vibes of the crowd. Some of Vū’s tracks have already been released also on the Pact Infernal’s label "Altar", Borders of Known (GE), Dark Alchemy (UK), Voidance (DE), Elektro Tribe (DE) Furanum Records (DE) Area Z (FR), and more.

He is currently collaborating with plenty of artists from the dub/techno/ritual/industrial scene, to dig into the meditative states of the lower frequencies and feed the catalog of his label VūMantra records.

She started her music career in 2021. On home soil, Maruù finished a local authentic DJ school called Headroom and immediately started performing in local clubs, realizing her cherished dream. Her selections are always positive and beautifully rhythmic. In her performances, you will hear a mixture of genres such as House, Progressive Trance, and Acid sounds.

At the moment, she is expanding her musical worldview, reinforcing her discerning taste in electronic music, and has started production.
