El último año Cerrero ha dedicado gran parte de su tiempo a la producción musical y dirección artística de Discos Pacífico, el nuevo sello de Llorona Records que ha presentado discos tan poderosos como Voy pa´allá de Semblanzas del Río Guapi, Batea de Bejuco y Berejú de Agrupación Changó. Discos Pacífico ha sido también la oportunidad de descubrir nuevas voces y artistas  para seguir experimentando y creando en el universo del productor colombiano. 

Chureito en la mañana, colaboración entre Cerrero y el grupo de Tumaco Bejuco, es la primera entrega de una serie de canciones que, desde el sonido crudo y minimalista del dub electrónico del proyecto solista del fundador de Llorona Records, nos lleva al lado más intimo de lo que ha sido la experiencia de inmersión en los sonidos de la costa del Pacífico sur de Colombia para Cerrero. 

El “Chureo” es parte esencial en la forma de cantar en Tumaco, un legado del África primitiva que solo sobrevivió en los lugares más apartados de Nariño.  Una melodía muy corta, percutiva y arcaica, cómo el canto del pájaro o de una chicharra en la selva, un llamado, un lamento. Cada cantante aporta su “Chureo” que al sobreponerse en una polifonía sublime se transforma en el trance que lleva la música al plano más espiritual y profundo. 

La canción inspirada en esta tradición, pero también en el zouk del Caribe antillano y los afrobeats que se toman los barrios de Tumaco, nos presenta la voz prodigiosa de William Martinez, cantante de Bejuco, y el encuentro creativo de Cerrero con “Cankita” músico, compositor emblema de la nueva generación de artistas de la región.

With her hypnotizing voice and vivid lyricism, Jackie Mendoza makes fantastical, intimate electro-pop propelled by ukulele-based dance grooves. Having grown up between her birthplace of Chula Vista, California and Tijuana, Mexico, the 29-year-old singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist bridges these two worlds with dynamic soundscapes that pull from Latin pop, electronic music, and indie pop. She creates a musical universe that exists beyond strict borders of genre and geography, giving her the space to traverse the vast expanse of her interiority. 
 
Mendoza first started performing in 2014 as the vocalist for Brooklyn dream pop bands Gingerlys and Lunarette. She then broke out as a solo artist with her 2016 pop hits “Islands” and “La Luz,” which showcased her imagery-packed, yet deeply introspective lyrics. On 'LuvHz', her 2019 adventurous debut EP that was initially inspired by a painful breakup, she turned her personal experiences into songs that observe greater truths about the world around her. As a result, the project became a broader reflection on varying forms of love, in relationships with your partner, your culture, and the natural environment. 

“This album is about finding the courage to not only face my emotions, but also sharing them by singing them out loud.” Mendoza says. The project was co-written and co-produced by Mendoza and Rusty Santos (Animal Collective, Panda Bear), with a contribution from Grammy winning producer and accordionist Ulises Lozano. 

As 'Galaxia de Emociones' cruises from shimmering indie pop to accordion-laced electronic norteño, Mendoza proves there is both power and tenderness in embracing the fullness of your being and not doubting your instincts that might have been discouraged by society. She says it all in the opening song, “Natural,” which blooms with spacey synths and twinkling ukulele plucks. “There is no use in controlling what comes natural to you,” she sings in Spanish in a spellbinding loop.
The experimental trap track “Mousetrap” captures the bitterness of a separation, which prompted Mendoza to move out of New York City, her home of eight years, back to San Diego, where she grew up, during the start of the pandemic. Meanwhile, the off-kilter pop song “Let’s Get Maui’d,” portrays a dream-like, escapist vision of love, inspired by a phrase Mendoza heard while watching 90 Day Fiancé. 

For every imaginative track, though, there’s another that’s firmly rooted in vulnerability. On the haunting alternative R&B song “Pedacitos” (“Little Pieces”), Mendoza soberly reflects on how depression and addiction have affected her friends and family, some of which have died by suicide, and how that in turn has affected her. “You’re a mirror / Of my future and my past / I see it and it breaks,” she sings in Spanish over flickering synths. 

“Oh, Cielos” (“Oh, Heavens”) is a biting critique of the people in power who “[trick] us again with venom and power,” she sings in Spanish on the track. Similarly, “Hay Frijoles en la Casa (Stomps)” (“There Are Beans at the House”) sees Mendoza refusing to follow patriarchal values. The song was inspired by the International Women’s Day marches and protests against femicides in Mexico, making for her most radical songs yet. 

The album ends on a hopeful note with “Ya Somos Estrellas” (“We’re Already Stars”), a glowing song that imagines outer space as a haven of belonging. “Who said there’s no room for you here? For your words and for your dreams?,” Mendoza sings in Spanish on the track. “It’s about immigrants, but also being queer and feeling like you can’t be yourself in a space,” she explains. “So I wrote that we’re all just stars floating in space, where there are no borders.” With her new album, she hopes that listeners can connect with her words and look within to explore their own galaxy of emotions.

Michael Wagner más conocido como Biomigrant cruzó Centroamérica desde Estados Unidos en bicicleta y llegó a Colombia para quedarse, por lo menos por ahora que su alma nómada le dice que este es el lugar donde su música florece.

Así con calma, paciencia y perseverancia, como observando el mundo desde la bicicleta, Biomigrant se ha dedicado a escuchar, aprender, grabar y llevar a su universo de música electrónica los sonidos que son el alma de Latinoamérica. La música conecta y transforma, nos permite contar la historia desde la inocencia del baile, el gozo, el encuentro y a eso suena Plumas EP, a descubrir un secreto bien guardado y hacerlo propio para sumarse a una voz colectiva.

Plumas EP nace de dos encuentros inesperados en el Caribe Colombiano. El primero en el Aviario Nacional de Colombia en Barú en donde Biomigrant realizó una residencia artística para registrar el canto de los pájaros infinitos de este santuario y el segundo de conocer a Juan Bertel ´Pampei´, uno de los pocos interpretes de Arco de Boca que quedan en la región.

La experiencia en el Aviario dejó una biblioteca de cantos de pájaros y la canción que le da el nombre el lanzamiento ´Plumas´ y las historias de ´Pampei´ y el sonido hipnótico del Arco de boca la segunda canción ´Pampei y los pájaros´.

Las dos canciones cuentan con videoclips hechos en stopmotion. El video de ‘Plumas’ fue realizado completamente de plastilina por Imagu Lab, una productora audiovisual Venezolana con base en Bogotá, lo de ‘Pampei’ fue realizado enteramente de papel por Yuyarikuna Films, un estudio de animación Colombiano con base en Buenos Aires. Los dos videos resaltan la magia siempre presente tras la cotidianidad de las tierras caribeñas Colombianas.

Llorona Records presents the ‘Plumas’ (Feathers) EP of Biomigrant

Michael Wagner, better known as Biomigrant, crossed Central America from the US in bicycle and arrived to Colombia to stay, at least for now, as his nomadic spirit tells him it is the place where his music blooms.

And so, with calm, patience, and perseverance, like watching the world from a bicycle, Biomigrant has dedicated himself to listen, learn, record, and bring into his universe of electronic music the sounds that form the heart of Latin America. Music connects and transforms, a medium to share stories from the innocence of dance, joy, and gatherings, and that’s what the Plumas EP sounds like, discovering a well-kept secret and making it our own to join a collective voice.

The Plumas Ep is born from two unexpected encounters in the Colombian Caribbean. The first, in the National Aviary of Colombia en Barú, in an artist residency where Biomigrant recorded the songs of the immense diversity of birds in the sanctuary, and the second when he met Juan Bertel ‘Pampei’, one of the few remaining musicians who play the Arco de Boca (Mouth Bow) in the region.

The experience in the aviary led to the creation of a sound library of birdsong and the track that gives its name to the release, ‘Plumas’, while the stories of Pampei and the hypnotic sound of the Arco de Boca sparked the second song, ‘Pampei y los Pájaros’ (Pampei and the birds).

The two songs are accompanied by stop motion music videos. The video for ‘Plumas’ was created entirely through claymation by Imagu Lab, a Venezuelan audiovisual studio based in Bogotá. The ‘Pampei’ video was made entirely from paper by Yuyarikuna Films, a Colombian animation studio based in Buenos Aires. The two videos show a glimpse of the sense of magic always present behind everyday life in the Caribbean territory of Colombia.

En una búsqueda de nuevos grooves y sonidos, DJ Neber se adentra a experimentar con otros ingredientes, para fortalecer su estilo y a la vez darle versatilidad. En 5 cortes no muestra como ha introducido un poco de House, Drum & Bass y un paseo por una amplia gama de samples latinos, entre los que destacan la sabrosa Cumbia, el juguetón Cha-cha-chá y el nostálgico Son.

DJ Neber - Chin Chan Chow

Esmeraldo Marques, Known as ChicoCorrea, is a pioneer of fusion of Northeast music and electronic music. Represents a new generation of Brazilian Bass music producers, focusing his artistic creativity between the oral traditions of his land and the low end frequencies of the sound systems.

Blending TR 808, analog synthesizers, with Cocos de Roda and Emboladas, his sets are a mix of his own productions and a mashup with samples he may find some hours before the gig. Always improvising and reconstructing the set each gig, in a live electronics format.

In Brazil, he produces his own parties: Baile Muderno (with live musicians) and FFG (with Dj Dolores, FurmigaDub and Maga Bo).

Has worked with Baiana System, Cabruera, Totonho and with his own band ChicoCorrea&ElectronicBand, performing in world music, Jazz, Alternative and electronic festivals in Europe, Senegal (Saint Louis Jazz Festival), China (Shanghai World Music Festival) and through Brazil.

Developed partnership in other projects with ChicoCesar, Dj Tudo, Dj Dolores, Maga Bo, Russo Passapusso, Furmiga Dub, David Bovée(BE), Les Sages Po(FR), Moe Clark(CA), Papet J(FR), Agua na Boca(FR), Makoto Kubota(JP).
