Stripped back, keeps going... really like this

We kick off a busy week of premiers with remix from seminal techno & house producer Dan Curtin, as he remixes Dublin based ZOiD, who has been carving a carving a genre bending sound through electronic and jazz experiments.

Metamorphic Recordings has established itself as a household name in the worlds of discriminating house and low-end oriented techno, and the label’s 39th release is proof that they aren’t slowing down.

ZOiD, a Dublin-based electronic and jazz musician, is the artist of choice here, exhibiting his genre-bending style with two sleek and imaginative pieces that serve as the narrative for the ‘Dexaphonic EP.’ The originals are in good company, as game pioneer John Tejada contributes a remix on the A side, while label founder Dan Curtin contributes a remix on the B side.

ZOiD has carved a slice of Irish dance music history for himself as joins Metamorphic Recordings, his record lyes aside dance music royalty including; Terrence Parker, HMC, Juan Atkins, Ian Pooley, Claude Young, Mark Broom, Blake Bakter, Neil Landstrumm & many more.

ZOiD’s debut on the influential imprint spans through glistening Chicago influenced house right through to wonky Bleep techno from Leeds, but on this occasion the machines are chiming from the Emerald Isle as ZOiD releases arguably his most accomplished work to date.

Dan Curtin’s remix of 9713Poochy breathes an alternative lease of life into the original with his unconventional sound. The crisp broken drums create an irresistible groove, allowing the ethereal textures to work their magic. This is classic stuff from one of the greatest.

Blur Records is back to present the debut of Australian DJ and Producer Drama In The Sauna, who delivers a banger EP entitled "Hot Water Laundry Service" that features 3 remixes by the wonderful producers Boryn, Simplex Motive and Vicmari.

The first and only original track "Hot Water Laundry Service" is an epic and hypnotic classic house composition, with a distinct groove, housey congas and a beautifully executed rhythmic synth, that perfectly encapsulates the meaning of true dance music.

Next, we have the first remix of Polish wunderkind producer - Boryn - who delivers a beautiful reinterpretation of the original, with its captivating synths that glide across the haunting echo-laden atmospheres, featuring dreamy deep chords, subtle percussive passages and a stabbing funky bassline highlighting the sophistication techniques of the Polish producer.

Next, we have the second remix duty this time featuring Russia-based producer - Simplex Motive. Delivering a deconstructed and comprehensive disco expansion of the original, it displayed unprecedented sturdy musicianship with its trademark saxophone and rolling bass, making it an absolute banger of a track.

To close the release we have the South African wonderful producer Vicmari, who in his skilful way as a true remix connoisseur delivered a powerful jazzy reinterpretation of the original, featuring its piano chords, moody bass and stripped-back snares, closes out a rich and resonant four-track EP.

Circuit Grooves is set to end the year on a high note with Slow Assembly’s innovative release, "Paramount," dropping on Friday, December 29, 2023. This two-track EP see's Slow Assembly continue his work at the intersections of different genres, where Acid Jazz meets the pulsating world of house beats, souped up with beats that dance around a core of rhythmic complexity.

"Paramount" opens the EP with the the original mix, an embodiment of Slow Assembly's vision. Here, the synth work is ecclectic and engrossing, creating a soundscape where jazz’s improvisational spirit meets the steady drive of house music. Following this vibrant opener we have the ZOiD Remix, an Acid track that infuses the original with a fresh, eclectic twist, seamlessly blending the more jazzy synth elements with acid undertones.
