With a sound akin to the scraping of bone on bone, a pair of armored figures were expelled violently through the half-open maw of the portal. As their forms were tossed unceremoniously upon the rocky ground, each quickly scrambled to their feet, drawing their weapons before lunging at each other’s throats in a ritual of torment. Though they had stood before the gates of hell as friends the energies of that most horrific dimension had twisted their perceptions, which now saw them pitted against each other as rivals in greed. Each coveted the glories of the other, forgetting their own and those that they had shared on the field of battle.

As masters in diametrically opposed schools of combat, the pair struck at each other with a mixture of brutality and precision that quickly saw them open gaping wounds in the bodies of their former comrades as their blood intermingled upon the stones below. From within the portal, the hungry eyes of hell watched with glee, knowing that the two champions would soon join their chosen horde as soldiers of their malevolent glories. 

MNDSCP and REDPILL lead the EATBRAIN horde to new states of sonic consciousness as they deliver a pair of remixes that recontextualize and reanimate a chosen work from each other’s catalogs. The end result is a mind-bending display of intra-label collaboration that sees the veteran EATBRAIN alumni imbue each track with a revenant potential to devastate the dancefloor once more.

The group of miscreants hastily clambered into the back of their cobbled-together hovercar as their driver slammed his foot onto the accelerator and sent the group speeding away from the wanton destruction that they had wrought amidst a cloud of multicolored plasma exhaust. As it shot across the hollowed wreckage of one of their home megacity’s most desolate districts the hovercar’s misaligned antigravity suspension routinely jostled its passengers, who used such moments to attempt to playfully shove their compatriots off the side of the vehicle. Though they were in no real danger whilst tethered to the vehicle’s safety system, the shock & shame of spending the ride home floating in antigrav before being unceremoniously dropped on the floor of the gang’s garage provided high enough stakes to keep things interesting. 

As their hovercar’s suspension careened off of a particularly large chunk of rubble in the street before them, the group shouted with glee amidst the thrill of their game. Indeed, it was not until they began to fall from the sky that they noticed that their craft had failed to restabilize its gravity field. Suddenly, the group was plucked from their freefall and pulled back upwards into the air, before being released again, stuck as they were within the humiliating experience of their vehicle's antigravity field in EMERGENCY LOOP.

DUB ELEMENTS return to EATBRAIN alongside newcomer MIDNIGHT CVLT to deliver their latest single, EMERGENCY LOOP. Within, a set of circuitous rhythms and maximalist sound design are sure to inspire fervor on the dancefloor, imbuing listeners with the frenzied energy of a DJ seeking to emerge from the grip of the single’s namesake phenomenon.

The name Katharsys derives from ‘an extreme change in emotion that results in renewal, restoration and revitalization’. And after one listen to the forthcoming LP sampler which French producers Hugo and Tom have been crafting in sonic solitude, you’ll understand why they chose this namesake. Following the start of their journey together in 2001, the duo began producing their very first drum & bass tracks. Inspired by the likes of Tech Itch, Kemal, Konflict and other heavyweight bass legends from across the darker end of the spectrum, the outfit have followed the same ethos. And that’s to transpose the primal instinct of Catharsis into every record.

Whether it’s Neurofunk or Darkstep, Katharsys have turned their hands to every sub-genre, across a wide variety of labels. Imprints such as Barcode, Obscene, Future Sickness and Guerilla have grown the pair from strength to strength, increasing their notoriety whilst helping to push them throughout the European club scene. And for their next offering, the renowned Othercide Records have given them a platform, an imprint which will release their second LP and further solidify their place as underground tastemakers.
