This is something I've had in mind for a while, and was planning to put it out for Halloween, but I'm really slow.  It's a macabre spoken word thing about a travelling circus that's a little 'off' in dark and unsettling ways that you can't quite put your finger on. Originally I thought it would sound good as an old timey Delta Blues with acoustic guitar accompaniment. But since I can't play, I enlisted the help of a fellow Soundcloud artist whose music I admire, Remnant60 (@remnant60). It just so happened Bill had previously posted a guitar track that he left open for collaboration. I downloaded his track, but it was left on the shelf for a while, until this came along, and I thought it was a perfect fit. 
It kind of borders on the edge of creepy cool and just hokey. But it's a fun bit of storytelling, and I'm grateful to Remnant60 for letting me tinker with his wicked slide guitar track. 
I strongly recommend listening to this with headphones for the full effect.

Hey….. Whatcha been up to lately? I’ve been outside working in the yard and garden. Reminded me of this old ranch hand who lived down by the river a couple decades ago. One autumn, he dug out every last quack grass root from his large garden and then died shortly thereafter, leaving a weed-free garden behind, for someone else that next Spring. I’m not too far behind him as far as digging out quack grass roots goes. In my spare time, I have been fumbling about on Ukulele. Luckily for you, this is not another Ukulele Song. Hahahaha. This song probably would have never happened if it wasn’t for a string buzz on the low E string. All music and vocals are by me and my slide guitar. This is a new realm of musical exploration for me. There are some recent slide ideas on this that I had been working up, but they never seemed to gel until now. Ah….the serendipity of a buzzing string in the life of a struggling musician. Where No Man Has Gone Before

I really wanted to try and make a soul song that would be "northern soul danceable" so some lyrics and melodies popped into my head and the idea for this project was born. The lyrics come straight from my stressed out heart - driving in the UK is like this. I wish more people were considerate towards each other on the road as this selfish behaviour causes many dangerous situations and even fatal crashes. 
I used a suitable beat to make a start and Morten was happy to be involved and created a brilliant backing track (after multiple drafts that saw improvement step by step). And as the icing of a cake, Jörg came along and added his wonderful brass to uplift the song's energy further. Thank you for this lovely collab again!

There's always a tendency at this time of year for people to focus on the things they think they need rather than being thankful for what they've already got. 

Swept along by the consumerist tide, it's so easy to lose perspective.
It reminds me of an opportunity which came our way in the late seventies when we'd relocated to the States and were gathering rave reviews from the style, culture and origami magazines. 
In fact, there's a chapter in my autobiography dealing specifically with our ahead-of-its-time TV series
