“Never In My Mind” starts off like a call to arms full of violence and energy, and continues its rampage pace like an adrenaline shot to the heart. The marching snare drum is overlaid with fuzz-heavy guitars and dark distorted vocals to produce a sound that is distinctly Sonic Jesus.

“Never In My Mind” is the B side to the band's Locomotive EP. Side A features a remix of “Locomotive” by Sonic Boom aka Pete Kember from Spacemen 3 and Spectrum. Sonic Boom's remix maintains the track’s beautiful abstract vocals which evoke some kind of religious ritual or perhaps a lonely lament. The song is then propelled into the heavens as the band crashes in and Sonic Boom’s psychedelic treatment takes effect.

Fuzz Club Records is an independent label, online store and production company that focuses on raw, experimental rock and roll, influenced by psychedelia, shoegaze, noise, garage, blues, folk and experimentation.
 
Established in rural Norway during the 24 hour darkness of the Arctic winter, Fuzz Club entered the scene in 2012 with their compilation The Reverb Conspiracy – made in collaboration with Austin Psych Fest – a now annual release capturing the essence of the underground scene as it is today.
 
Today Fuzz Club has around 20 artists and over 40 releases featuring names like Anton Newcombe, Goat, Alan Vega, The Black Angels, Dead Skeletons, A Place to Bury Strangers and The Underground Youth.

The latest offering from the experimental noise masters is a collaboration between the three core band members and 20 of their contemporaries, who each designed a piece of music inspired by a single riff.

Much like the process of continuous recreation that its namesake symbolises, the West London group’s third LP, Hoopsnake, devours the seemingly eternal riff and constantly reinvents it to form a series of parallel iterations to the original composition.

The riff was born from a repetitious loop originating from the sessions for their previous LP, the Sonic Boom mastered Aether. The band then recorded two versions of it (one a loud, guitar-driven take, the second a softer synth passage) and shared it with friends and collaborators, inviting each artist to create a corresponding sonic interpretation, which have all been mixed into four separate 10 minute long tracks. 

The result is a seamless meshing of ideas from some of the best minds in the underground music scene - including The Oscillation’s Demian Castellanos and Steven Lawrie of The Telescopes - whose recordings span the weird and wonderful, ranging from ‘home made noise box’ to  ‘Godin Artisan ST II recorded on solar power in a caravan’, to simply ‘lime green guitar.’ The roster of musicians and their various tools and instruments has been documented on the vinyl edition’s printed inner sleeve, and reads like a cross between a tech catalogue and a fantasy novel.

Connecticut's Landing have specialized in a mild and rural kind of psychedelia over the course of nearly two decades. Recent releases have seen them closer to post-punk and shoegaze territory than ever, but Third Sight – recorded specifically for El Paraiso Records’ Impetus series – builds on the hallucinatory soundscapes of the band's earliest days.

There's a unique sense of motoric drift to these four long pieces, and an organic blend of rock instrumentation and analog electronics that brings to mind Eno's best collaborations in the 1970s. But the group's flair for fuzzy drones and new weirdsy commune-folk also betrays their affiliation with the experimental American east coast scene –these guys have played shows with their friends in Bardo Pond, releasing a split EP with Windy & Carl and playing numerous Terrastocks throughout their existence. 

And despite releasing one brilliant album after another the band remains appalingly under-appreciated. Perhaps because the tryyps Landing take are rooted in self-exploration. As trends in krautrock, drone, folk, and psychedelia ebb and flow, Landing remain unfazed. The door to Landing’s world is open, but there isn’t a flashing neon sign above it. These guys are far removed from the hustle and bustle of geographic cultural bubbles, both physically and spiritually.

Listening through this LP is likely to stimulate mental images of rural winds blowing across vast American fields of grass, bonfires, blue rivers and power lines sailing through rolling hills. Landing's psychedelia possesses a rare timelessness. We are proud to present this offering from the band in the El Paraiso catalog!

Al Lover - NEUicide!

Next up in the Fuzz Club Session series is Austin’s Holy Wave! Following the release of their 2016 LP ‘Freaks Of Nurture’ we invited the band to London to lay down a session. Despite still being steeped in a 60s Nuggets nostalgia the material on the session see’s Holy Wave ditch the Seeds-esque garage for a more washed out, reverberating psych-pop sound. The warm analogue recording creating a blissed-out echo chamber of sun-soaked psychedelia – recorded straight to tape and committed to the wax.

Limited to 500 copies. 100 on white vinyl exclusive to the Fuzz Club store. 400 on black vinyl. All on 180g vinyl and with printed inner sleeves. Digital download included.
