A darkness that swallowed years,

a piercing light,
cutting through my every shadow,
you appeared, a flame in the abyss,
a warmth my bones had forgotten.
In your gaze, I found what I had buried,
a flicker of hope, a pulse of fire.

But even as I reached for you,
I felt the tremor in my hands,
the cracks in my soul—
they whispered the truth I feared:
this light,
too pure for my tarnished heart.

In the depths of your eyes,
I saw the end we would become,
a beauty that could not endure,
a love fated to wither
under the weight of my own ruin.

How cruel this gift,
to glimpse the dawn,
to taste the warmth of your touch,
only to know it would fade,
that I would smother it
with the darkness I cannot shake.
