The concept of Fools Will Follow started in August 2012 with talks of forming a heavy/grunge band with Jack on drums and Joe on guitar. However, nothing became of this due to the members' involvement with other bands. But, at the end of 2012, Jack decided to focus on guitar with Dean on bass and they began looking for a drummer. Joe said he would fill the gap. The new band eventually started in early February, with aims to take it as far as they could.

Drawing on grunge, metal and rock influences such as Nirvana, Soulfly and Seether, Fools Will Follow have developed a heavy, riff-based sound comprising of loud and distorted guitar accompanied by fat bass lines and intense drum beats with a mixture of clean and harsh vocals on top. The bands music mainly consists of original material with 2 covers thrown in.
