On the theme of this song
Marcel Proust used to say that we should not explain a work of art, that it is a bit like giving the recipe for a dish that we offer to taste. I am generally more of this opinion but for this piece I will depart from the rule for several reasons: its length its theme its difficult and slow creation.
We often go through less inspired times sometimes even it's a great desert of ideas that seems to extend as far as the eye can see. That’s a bit of what I’ve been through for the past two years, and probably many of us. And then this summer with Aline during our vacation in the city of Nantes we visited an incredible exhibition on hypnosis and in particular the breathtaking installation by artist Tony Oursler (https://tonyoursler.com/state_nonstate- hypnosis) which was the trigger. For some time now, I had in mind the idea of ​​a series of songs around the theme of sleep and dreams (the diva in the Watchmaker Dream was the first of the series) hypnosis then became the central theme. of this second song which took the form of a suite in 7 moments.
Hysteria is a neurosis which is characterized by real physical distress and suffering which are symptoms of conflicts and psychological trauma. At the end of the nineteenth century many famous doctors like Charcot and Freud began to regard hysteria as a disease and try to treat it with hypnosis. (Freud will abandon this technique later, preferring analysis by speaking alone)
The song tells the story of a session like this in its fanciful way.



the music

I also tried to give the mix a very analog color. We worked as much as possible the old-fashioned way with real instruments plugged into tube amps, emulations of old analog synths, and a tube mic for vocals in a tube eq too, and especially trying to play them. taken live. Finally, I used emulations of mythical consoles from the seventies a lot.

Construction
The piece is conceived as a series of "pictures"  alternating of instrumentals and parts sung by Aline. All these parts were recorded in order one after the other in a single session.

A bit of a twist in the plot here. It was the inimitable Piero Peluche who at first composed the instrumental music. Then electricpaul was challenged with coming up with lyrics and devising a vocal melody. It was Earth Day last and a friend and collaborator suggested that the song might be about Gaëa whilst the inimitable Piero Peluche was looking for a story involving imprudent high jinks of youth, which presented a dilemma. There's some nosy guitar in there as well for good measure.

Scratch Scratch - Nabucco Dinosaur

This is a two and a half minute extract from a much longer piece intended for live performance.

"Hullo, Michael," I said.

'Find Sound' is the debut record from Shards, a London based vocal group led by singer, composer and producer Kieran Brunt. Combining voices, synths and percussion, Find Sound is an astonishing exploration of the human voice; using the concepts of sound and light as simple metaphors for gaining understanding. The album’s pieces are intended to be miniature sonic paintings, with each adding to an overall picture of the emotional confusion of early adulthood: the uncertainty, the excitement, the terror and relief.

After collaborating with Terry Riley in 2016, Brunt was asked by the Barbican to form a choral group for Nils Frahm’s Possibly Colliding festival that summer. Following the success of the shows, Frahm invited Brunt to join him in Berlin to collaborate on choral arrangements for his recent album 'All Melody'. Shards have since gone on to collaborate with other notable artists, including Michael Price on his recent LP 'Tender Symmetry'.

Each of the singers in Shards brings a very distinctive musical personality to the group, something which Brunt was eager to emphasise on their debut record. Rather than aiming for a seamless blend or absolute precision when recording, the differences between voices has been intentionally highlighted — celebrating their unique textures and inviting the listener to hear their minutest details up-close.

"The group ended up consisting almost entirely of friends and friends-of-friends. I also tried my best to ask people who weren’t just singers, but who do have other projects and musical interests. As such, we have people in the group who are also composers, instrumentalists, folk musicians and teachers. It’s a vibrant mix, and I’m constantly discovering new things about them the more we make music together.” — Kieran Brunt

I recorded this Concerto once upon a time on a minidisk back in 2000.
However, it was lost. So I tried to reproduce it once more.
I think I got pretty close.

‘’Forgiveness’’ is an important track to me, both thematically and musically speaking. It represents the final letting go of all hurt and wrongdoings to make room for new experiences. It’s also my longest and most complex track yet.

Kyle vive a Seattle ed è un dirigente d'azienda con una bella famiglia e uno spiccato senso dell'humor, canta, suona la chitarra, il basso e anche, volendo, la batteria.
