Everything up to "Amnesic Princess" was made with FAMISYNTH-II and may contain delay effects that would've required more channels than physically available.

Everything from "Haunted Tea Procession" onwards was made with the YMCK Magical 8bit Plug 2, with polyphony disabled for every instrument and only 4 channels allowed (to avoid accidentally exceeding the channel limit).

Everything from "Boulevard" onward avoids hardware-impossible stuff like having the triangle channel set to anything other than 100% or 0% volume.

This is an arrangement of the title/credits theme of the 1996-1998 South African TV show, "The Legend of the Hidden City", originally composed by Toby Langton-Gilks.

I never got to see much of the show, but the theme was quite memorable.

Still Unforgiven

I first discovered Jackie Chan's Action Kung Fu on a bootleg Famicom cartridge when I was a child. The ROM had been edited to replace Jackie Chan's head with that of Mario, and the bootleg cartridge contained multiple non-Mario games all hacked to replace the protagonists with Mario. It pretended to be a collection of "new" Mario games.

This was by far my favourite track from the game, so I was inspired to try making a rock arrangement in FL Studio.

I've really enjoyed Yuki Kajiura's work on anime soundtracks over the years. This one is heavily inspired by the Kara no Kyoukai (Garden of Sinners) soundtrack.

"Betriste" isn't a real word, yet it felt oddly right for this mood.

Betriste

I started this back in late May 2020, but hit a wall shortly thereafter.

FL Studio tells me I spent 6 hours and 20 minutes on this, which is kind of embarrassing.

With the sole exception of the orch hit (which was filtered in the mixer to sound lower-fi), every instrument here is an instance of the Fruity DX10 (FM Synth) plugin.

I found it really hard to settle on instruments for each part, and kept going back and forth on several of them. But the main goal was to achieve a "DOS game" sound.

Heavily influenced/inspired by:
- "The Blue Valley" by Karsten Koch (blue_val.s3m), which was used in the PC game Uplink.
- "ZANACS" by Alexander Brandon, from the PC game Tyrian.

Grid Heist

I mostly make NES-like chiptunes, but also dabble in other electronic music. I enjoy being able to hop between styles and genres while working within the constraints of the chip instrumentation.

As a listener, I have a big soft spot for the OPL3 and the HuC6280.
