My first composition in years.  I really wanted this to be done with acoustic guitar but this was done on my Cort FX Custom through a Line 6 Guitarport into Logic Express.
It is basically 2 guitars with one on 5th fret.

Apart from one or two timing issues which I have not learned how to deal with in Logic Express as yet, I am very happy with this track.  I hope you enjoy it!

A Moment In Time

Well here is a somewhat time corrected version with some orchestration.  I cannot decide which I prefer to be honest :)  Your comments are welcome.  I have realised that my recording input is way too low in Logic Express so I need to look at that.  I am also not sure why the Cello's appear to be phasing, it isn't by design!

A Moment In Time (Orchestrated)

You are walking through a forest, an old forest.  It is summer.  You chance upon a glade which is illuminated by dappled sunlight scampering through the myriad leaves of the canopy high above you.  Without warning, a shower of rain pitter patters overhead.  Cascading rivulets of water dance from leaf to leaf as they fall, finally, into the grateful embrace of the tumbling brook which meanders through the glade flowing gently onward to join with its siblings on the endless journey to the sea.  The occasional leaf swirls in the slow currents and eddies of the stream like a miniature boat.  As suddenly as it started, the rain stops and shafts of warm sunlight beam down upon the verdant and fragrant fronds of the forest floor, causing rainbow moments to appear all around you.  Life is good.

Forest Glow

My first collaboration on SoundCloud.  Based on my guitar piece, Forest Glow, Hannah (@hanjan) has managed to work in a lovely melody, lyric and additional instruments in her usual gentle style.  I am very moved by the work she has done on this to create a totally different piece while retaining the original feel.  Thanks Hannah :)

Rainfall of Summer - HanJan and g0vgs

I have wondered long about whether to put up a couple of cover tracks that I did last year.  These are done to backing tracks but I have added my own stamp to them.  In Tequila Sunrise I have added all guitars apart from the slide guitar and bass.  I have also done all the vocals.  You will be able to see why I don't do many vocals ;)
I hope you like it anyway.  The backing track was a freely available track from guitarbt.com.

Tequila Sunrise

This is the second.  What a fabulous backing track this is.  There are actually 2 lead guitars (both mine) and I am very pleased with the result.  I have always loved this piece and although this is a cover of the Shadows version, I play it an octave higher which gives it a little more in my opinion. Cavatina

I originally wrote this naive little song in 1974 at the age of 16.  I completely forgot about it until I heard an old (and extremely poor) recording from the period.  I decided to have another go at it and this is the result.  The guitars, bass and vocals are all real and the rest are VST's. I hope you enjoy it.  The only thing it misses is a decent lead vocal :)

Winter Love (Love on our side)

This came from a picture posted on Twitter.  It is also my first time playing with open tunings amazingly.  This one is DADGAD and just a single guitar.  The piece is meant to be a canvas that can be played with.  If *you* want to play with it, let me know.  I would be delighted to hear different collaborative results on it.

Faces In The Clouds

I have always wanted to cover this track, originally written by Richard Thompson, so I started with a little trepidation.  All the stems were done in one take so it has a live feel, however, it also contains a few mistakes :)  The main harmony track started out as me wanting to double the lead vocal.  As I started to sing, I realised I was not on the same note and decided then and there to continue as a harmony.  This has created a rather unusual and occasionally out of sync/note blend.  I have been meaning to rerecord the mistakes but I never got around to it.  I hope you enjoy it for what it is.

Dimming Of The Day

I was introduced to Soundcloud by Wes Martin (Ukuleleboy) after seeing his songs on Twitter.  Since then I have found a plethora of wonderful music and musicians sharing their musical journey with anyone who wishes to hear.  Coming from a folky background in the 70's I am a firm believer that music is a social activity and should be shared whenever possible, regardless of skill or talent.  I also love being able to collaborate with other musicians.  Sadly, I am not able to do this in a live environment any more so I hope to do so on here.
My compositions are few and far between but lean to the melancholic, me being a lover of minor and major 7th chords :)  Hopefully, one day, I will write something more uptempo!  Until then I hope you enjoy my journey which has started again in my fifth decade on the third rock.
You should also realise that I am learning to record and produce at the same time and get it wrong regularly so please forgive any pops and squeaks ;)
