Amadeus sees it’s catalog graced yet again by New Zealand outfit Chaos In The CBD. The kiwi brothers, birthed Ben & Louis Helliker-Hales, are no new faces to the label, or the wide variety of genre-bending acronyms they encompass. Having recently relocated from tropical Auckland to damp London earlier this year, the two take their productions along with them in their latest efforts, 816 To Nunhead.

Title track and aside, “816 To Nunhead,” is tinged with what’s left of summer. A nostalgic tune built for the sun and soaked in funk. It’s a track reminiscent of early french disco, almost as if built for the two robots themselves. Guitar plucks and hi hats flow seamlessly throughout the tune, aided by a glorifying vocal, “I would like to think of my music as just an extension, an extension of me of today or whatever.” 

What emotion of freedom and escape evoked on the Aside can be contrasted on the flip, “78 To Stanley Bay,” a tune built behind the ever looming theme of loneliness. Accompanied by a live trumpet courtesy of Isaac Aesili, ’78 To Stanley Bay’ tells us a story, or rather a journey, built behind dirty hats and delayed keys. This is a track fashioned for everywhere but the club, and we absolutely love that.

I just found out my remix of Tevo Howard's "Boing Pop" has been included - without my approval - on the Hed Kandi Beach House 2014 compilation. I usually feel honoured when my music is selected for these types of things but I mean Hed Kandi is this total horror-conglomerate that uses retarded imagery drawn straight from the sexual fantasies of horny twelve year old boys to pimp a very sad idea of house music to the masses, so this time I just feel depressed. What's worse is that the owner of Rebirth (the label who originally released my remix) edited the track - again without my approval - into something shorter and clumsier, completely fucking up the flow of the music. What Does Honey Taste Like?

Renato is a Berlin based DJ and producer, originally from South Africa, but with Portuguese roots. He entered the scene last year and has been showcasing a steady output of quality releases on Moodmusic, Audiomatique (coming soon) and on Chocolat Records, the label he's running together with Miguel Tavares.

'Circuits EP' is his Manual Music debut release featuring two originals + remixes by Stas Drive- who returns on the label after a while- and Miguel Taveres. The four songs explore the outlines between deep house, progressive house and melodic techno.

Long story short: a fine example of timeless underground electronic music here. A true pleasure for both the ears- as well as for the dance floor.

If anyone can create an evocative atmosphere, it’s Chez Moon. ‘Midnight Love’ is one of those effortlessly stunning records that flawlessly translates into hedonistic dancefloor moments. The Australian duo call on Rocco Rodamaal and Larse for cosmic reproductions on this dazzling Defected debut release. Lyon producer Rocco takes a housey route, laying down a rumbling low-end and ramping up the energy with dizzying pads. Keeping to the emotive undertone, Larse pulls out the delicate keys and mixes in soft bass stabs in his ‘Full Moon’ rendition. Unleashing sweet euphoria like real music should, ‘Midnight Love’ is a cut above the rest.
