This was originally issued in a pic disc LP boxset in an edition of 250 as part of the Prints of Darkness exhibition at Edinburgh Printmakers. This exhibition is still touring and LPs can be purchased from Edinburgh Printmakers.

"People Like Us illuminates this dark visual ride with ‘This Is Light Music’, an exclusive full-length picture-disc album in a limited edition of only 250. This record is available as part of a lavish limited edition boxed-set publication which houses the record and a pull-out poster in a gatefold sleeve, and includes essays by People Like Us and co-curator Norman Shaw. This publication is on sale throughout the exhibition, together with specially commissioned t-shirts and badges by the participating artists."

Extremities documents the first meeting of Jessica Ackerley and Patrick Shiroishi, recorded live in a basement apartment in Chinatown, Los Angeles. Both musicians come from strong improvised and free music scenes: Ackerley from NYC, and Shiroishi from L.A. There is a joyful sense of abandon here; the love affair each musician has with their instrument produces a dripping intensity, congealing upon impact with the physical, coalescing into a new form; fresh contours, rippled textures glinting in the atmosphere of passive space, as their musical chemistry manifests in instantaneous spurts. Stylistically, the album ranges from free jazz to noise and even serrated slices of metal. This makes for music constantly branching out from an agitated core: bulbous and irregular, and convolutedly engaging from start to finish.

Francesco Cavaliere and Tomoko Sauvage embody a tactile audio visual display, radiating the colour green into sounds and painting meditative music. By transforming collected objects into invented instruments and scenography, each motif becomes a dedication to a specific situation, an anecdote or a symbol, sometimes real and other times absurd, that the artists have encountered through their travels and conversations: the Chinese myth about a man wearing a green hat, the naming convention of Japanese traffic lights, or even the imaginary chants of frolicking twin dolphins. This inspired the duo’s personal research on experimenting with raw and synthesized idiophones, stage landscape design, spontaneous field recording and organized improvisation.

For their installation and performance, Cavaliere and Sauvage assemble a green cabinet of curiosities - an instrumentarium combining water, glass, clay, bamboo xylophones, metallophones and synthesizers. Tomoko describes in an interview: “When you are actually surrounded by green musical instruments, it has a calming effect as if you were looking at a forest or mountain.” Surrounding themselves with amulets and fluorescent fluids, the duo transcend into a musical imagination that connects scores, choreography and sculpture. Motions like crisscrossing the stage, feeling the presence of a perfectly plump leaf as it strikes a glass bowl, minerals slipping through fingers, all resonate to the soothing sounds of splashing water. There’s an intuitive yet methodical nature to this conceptual approach to composition reminiscent of the fluxus art movement. The pair’s initial motif was to play Henning Christiansen’s Green Music, whose score turned out to be nonexistent. By then, their green dream was already flourishing in their mind, retracing the path of so-called environmental music from Walter Tilgner and Knud Viktor to the likes of Kankyo-Ongaku and Hiroshi Yoshimura.

Since there is a strong visual element to their work, witnessing this captivating site specific performance may be imperative in understanding the range and influence of the colour green and the impact on the sounds they create together. On ‘Viridescens’, the first release by Cavaliere and Sauvage, we are invited to experience these recordings in a more musical context. Acting like an intermediary, the duo transport us to their special planet, enlivened by animal voices, wind, and aquatic creatures dancing across a luminous aurora.

PR: Handstitched* is pleased to announce the next split-artist release by X.Y.R. and Danny Scott Lane. A series of evolving limited-edition issues are released on both mini CD and C45 cassette and will focus on two artists - limited to 50 copies per release. Each of the formats have hand-crafted packaging, unique, hand-printed covers for the CD and hand-made cassette sleeves for the pro-dubbed tapes.

Vladimir Karpov is a prolific electronic musician and producer under the pseudonym X.Y.R. He creates sounds that are immersive and hypnotic, and has previously released an impressive back catalogue of music on the wonderful Constellation Tatsu and Not Not Fun Records, amongst others, the amazing X.Y.R. release Robinson Crusoe (Lost Soundtrack) on Singapore Sling Tapes first caught our attention at Handstitched* back in 2012 and he subsequently released Waves T*​pes Vol​.​1 on Handstitched* in 2015.

This new piece; Temple Of Solitary Reflections was originally created, but subsequently modernised for one of the audiovisual installations (on the subject of a human / megalopolis collision with nature) for an exhibition at the Vinzavod Gallery in Moscow, Russia in 2020 (due to a pandemic, the event was postponed indefinitely). This work is a kind of meditation session, during which there is an establishment of internal connections with nature, with nature itself, in order to find the optimal balance between beauty, fears and spiritual insight. X.Y.R. applies to his music; analog synthesisers (formanta-mini, korg m1), loop station and field recordings.

Danny Scott Lane is based in Los Angeles and aside from his dynamic photographic and directing skills he also captivates us with his musical adventures, having released music on Moon Glyph, Schematic and Shimmering Moods. UNTITLED is a collection of six songs that weave and tug on the listener's emotions, melodic segments, mindful movement and glimpses of far-eastern, broken rhythms keep a tight-grip on the mind, body and soul - UNTITLED is subtle and deep but inextricably upfront with an individual essence.

This mix is coming straight from Cambazli , Salih Topuz aka Arketip does his part for the Zanderhythm series for this pink moon. He co-runs Sitdownandance, the number one turkish braindance label with Fluctuosa.
Also he is responsible for mastering latest zanderhythm output.
We will have some Arketip on zanderhythm this year for sure and also we gonna put some dried tomatoes straight from cambazli in your acid sandwiches. This is permaculture sisters and brothers !

Since 2016, UAnimals has been promoting the humane treatment of animals, their protection from exploitation and abuse. We have managed to ban circuses with animals in two dozen cities, agree to abandon natural fur by several dozen designers, as well as achieve the adoption of several important animal rights laws over recent years.

However, on February 24, 2022, Russia attacked Ukraine and now the main efforts of UAnimals are focused on rescuing animals in this situation. We help shelters financially, we provide them with food and try to evacuate animals to other countries.
