Anyways here's my Mettaton canon lore thing.

He's more narcissistic and would stalk Frisk from a far distance like Undyne but way more noticeable. Mettaton is still the star of the underground loved but mostly hated by everyone, Papyrus still being a superfan of course! 
Napstablook supports Mettaton a lot but is super distance from him mainly because they don't want to be recognized as Mettaton's cousin.
Mettaton has dusted someone before, which is why they're more creepy compared to Classic Mettaton. In any case, scenario most likely BurgerPants that got dusted, which means he got replaced by someone similar to him, like a hypothetical brother.
