2 years ago we kicked off our first premiere with Sydney crew Star Local Records. 2 years, a UK sabbatical and 54 additional premieres, we’re back where it all began. Based in Eora/Sydney, Start Local Records is leading the way in releasing tracks from some of the countries best up and coming producers, adding to their quickly grown catalogue of high-quality house cuts. Now onto their 6 release, SLRVA006, continues their ethos, presenting 4 tracks, from 4 very talented budding producers.   Today’s premiere, ‘Happier Together’ by Melbourne producer and DJ, priya, is their latest track following a feature on the 2020 Love Above Records compilation, ‘LAD004 - Locked in the House.’ Clocking in at just under 7 minutes, the progression of this track is truly replayable, moving between a classic break, melodic chords and a steady bass line, priya gradually builds the momentum of the song carefully intertwining and reintroducing elements as they deem fit. A stand out release, from one of Sydney’s standout underground labels.

On the second EP for his Dynamics Of Acid label, acid aficionado MOY — fresh from releases on Nocta Numerica and Batrachian —  teams up with the mysterious Zodiac Childs for a feast of shredded breaks, electro melodies and moody atmospheres.

On the A-side, MOY’s ‘Ratufa’ mixes euphoric pianos, hardcore drums and glowering bass with a side order of 303, while Zodiac Childs ups the intensity with a remix that adds ascending arpeggios and gigantic rave stabs to light up the dance.

On the B-side, Zodiac Childs offers up the smouldering break chops and cavernous bass bleeps of ‘Overstep’, before flipping into acid madness halfway through. Finally, MOY’s version threads serpentine sulphuric tones through an intricate melodic arrangement and a dusty hip-hop drum loop. 

It all adds up to a jaw-dropping release from two of the hottest names in the electronic underground.

The second of a triplet on Fine Grains for the Surrey-based producer, Herman. Four ruminating low-end constructions with the heads down crew always in mind. With clubs starting to re-open, the 'Narcissus EP' lands at the perfect moment. 'Sol' takes on a heady mix of tribal drums, haunting distorted vocal snippets and teasing breakbeats. 

And this is the essence of the 'Narcissus EP', as we go further down the rabbit hole into Herman's world of deep myoclonus percussion.
Herman's tale is furthered with remixes by two exciting emergent production talents - Holloway from the UK and Zohar in the Netherlands. The emphasis remains on drums, slipping into some classic d'n'b flavour with Holloway and a powerful modern breakbeat re-shake from Zohar (her first ever remix). 

'Narcissus' is a call to arms for a return to those dark and sweaty nights we once shared with strangers on dance floors and dingy basements across the globe. Let's get back to it.

PREMIERE: Herman - T. Diluent (Holloway Remix)

Ten Years Lost, the label boss of Infinite Wisdom, has kicked off 2023 with his "Chasing Planes" EP. This 2-tracker is a nostalgic nod to the big room sounds of Bicep and Denis Sulta, but with a modern mystical twist. Alongside the title track's bass driven piano action, the 2nd track 'Kendall's S.O.S.' features a standout vocal performance from London-based singer Kendall Ramsey, elevating the track to new heights.

These tracks, originally created earlier in his career, have been remixed and remastered for 2023 and offer a fresh take on the original concept. Inspired by iconic shows like Twin Peaks and The X-Files. Ten Years Lost sets the tone for the year ahead with this mesmerizing release, available on Infinite Wisdom on March 10th, 2023.

PREMIERE: Kendall - S.O.S [Ten Years Lost]

WeTurnToRed (a.k.a. Shamanta Chandran - https://on.soundcloud.com/vw1Ny) is a Syrian-born Tamil-Canadian producer/DJ/singer/songwriter and scientist based in Toronto, Canada. Her deep love for electronic music was ignited after her older brother introduced her to the mid-90s Toronto rave scene. Having experimented in the studio for over a decade, delving into melodic nuances of modular and analog synths, it was clear that growling basslines and haunting melodies were the subjects of her affection.

Rogue Planet is about feeling like an "other," like a planet ejected by its host planetary system. It is a personal journey encapsulating Shamanta's South Asian roots and influences. Visuals are by internationally-known artist & muse Rajni Perera, "a painter and sculptor known for exploring how power works through the imagery of science fiction." The album reflects Shamanta's early life experience as a South Asian immigrant who has journeyed from the Middle East to North America, living in several different cities along the way. Adapting spiritual influences of the past, it seeks to preserve cultural relics in a future unknown. It features her 90-year-old aunt's Indian Carnatic vocals along with hers, connecting the generational gap.
