Jazz Fusion

For his 3rd label single, Tray Wellington covers a 21st century classic in the making from trumpeter Roy Hargrove in “Strasbourg/St. Denis.” Though young, Wellington sets the pace for a stellar group of musicians on this session, recalling the sound of his jazz-leaning predecessors (Bela Fleck, Scott Vestal) as it displays doses of his own creativity. "The first time I heard this song I knew I wanted to record it some day—with this crew playing on it, I knew it was the perfect time to do it!" ABOUT: All before the age of 21, Tray Wellington has already had the kind of career most aspiring musicians strive for, but rarely see. Picking banjo seriously since 13, Tray has received numerous awards including IBMA Momentum Instrumentalist of the Year and Momentum Band of the Year (with Cane Mill Road). Having shared the stage with some of the most accomplished musicians in the world, Wellington is fast becoming a household name in acoustic music.
