We welcomed WhoMadeWho this summer at the Brooklyn Mirage for a spectacular live show that bewitched us all. Their music deliciously haunts our memory making it so we could not wait to invite them back, this time to join our Cityfox Odyssey: NYE & NYD 2019 (bit.ly/CFNYE2019) for a special hybrid set amongst an illustrious cast of electronic music savants.
 
The Danish trio of prolific producers, consisting of Tomas Barfod, Jeppe Kjellberg, and Tomas Høffding, who are now on their sixth album, explore concepts of humanity through their musicality. Their songs have a knack of eliciting the listener’s emotions through their own brand of unconventional indie pop electronic that is inspired by the likes of David Bowie and James Blake. Their versatility between classic rock band and electronic music act, and ultimately the integration of the two, is what truly sets them apart.

Despite their busy touring and production schedule, WhoMadeWho has favored us with this introspective Foxcast just in time for the weekend, taking on a sonorous journey that will guide us into the new year’s eve festivities. A sophisticated selection of tracks that reflects their gamut, this mix is a sonic treat that simply teases, it’s the calm before the storm, a taste of what is to come.

2020 sees Tamango Records deliver its first VA release ever - a mighty 13 track compilation which perfectly showcases all the facets of the sound that represents the label perfectly.

Opening with head-honcho Yaya's collaboration with a long-time friend of the label Alex Ground, the compilation branches out between rolling fat beats and gorgeous vocal hooks, including tracks by Jamahr, Toman, Nacho Bolognani, Rossi, Santé & The Willers Brothers, Luuk Van Dijk and many more, giving life to a release that mixes renowned and upcoming artists. 

Destined to be a mainstay in DJ sets for the foreseeable future, expect to hear Tamango Shots Vol. 1 throughout the summer and beyond.

Next up, "God Jam It" digs deeper, moving towards a more classic house vibe. After an initial breakbeat moment, the tune back on track with the 4/4 structure, leaving to sharp drums the chance to shine at their best. Kick and bass shake the bottom. Analog pads and stabs create a gentle and flowing harmonic layer, sidechain and wise compression make it spot on in the overall mix. The continuous shift between breakbeat and straight phases is made to perfection and adds a note of interest to a very well-rounded track. The combination between a female (super housey!) and a male vocal samples its the cherry on the cake as it fits so well with the 90s lead on the drops as well as the whole mood of the track.
