Clarisse puts on one of Chicago’s finest and a genuine, long-standing household name of club culture. The EDM-trashing gangster of house – less a gatekeeper of the scene’s essence, more its heavyweight bodyguard - DJ Sneak has always kept it real when it has come to a career of been theres and done thats. “Picking out the bikini-clad...if asses aren’t shaking, they must be wedged into a seat that’s too small for them”, one reviewer spoke of his selection skills. With bags packed for a 2015 gig schedule taking in festivals and top tier dancefloors from Barcelona to Brooklyn, LA to Ibiza, Cleethorpes to Croatia and back again, Sneak has held a lengthy association with the Clarisse family, having remixed Nick Coden’s ‘Fashion’ back in 2010.

‘Seca de Loco’ is funk meant for showing off your tan to. To the swing of a jovial bell-ringing riff that’ll also happily knock your block off, its chimes tell you that class is in session, happy hour is under way, and shake and shimmy is on 2-for-1. Sneak’s nimble tribal style cuts through the cumbersome weight of the competition, vocalized by a squabble of Latin commentators adding rum-soaked zest from a scrambled radio frequency. A pacey piece of carnival partying, with just a pinch of added strength acid stirred in below.

The remix comes hung, drawn and Latin quartered, and it’s Clarisse’s leader of the cavalry Mendo who carries on the tribal tug-of-war by making the fast-irresistible glassy riff swing like he’s the boss of the bell-tower. Full of the original’s chatter that in parts becomes even more flubbery – there are times where you swear you can hear the gargling of cocktails going down – Mendo adds jack-ready percussion, marches the track through streets lined by horn players and leads it to the nearest mass of body heat.
