TLDR: Next time should be less words and better mixing :)

After recording a set for my gf, I found the inspiration to start mixing again. It's been quite a few years since I've recorded anything off the cuff, so apologies for the rough pitch changes and some mixes in the first half - I'm just going through the 1000+ (EDIT: 3500+ in 300+ folders!) tracks I've bought since I started DJing on CDJ's back in '07.

Also it should be noted this is recorded on a 16yo computer I built that was on it's last legs about 2 years ago lol. So if you hear pops and clicks, that's the Quadcore-9505 CPU and 8GB of DDR2 RAM maxing out :D

I'm not too worried though, the goal here is primarily to spark my enjoyment of mixing again, and in doing so, let all those tracks that one buys but never ends up playing out, the chance to see the light of day. Anyone who has been DJing for a while will know what I mean!

Things may be rough as we start off, but as the months go on, I'm hoping to find my groove again (and get a new HDD/SSD for my non museum-worthy laptop to fit the tunes).

I was fortunate enough to be given a sunday set on main stage by the ever amazing Dragon crew at their 2013 doof held on the beautiful site at Wee Jasper. Cannot thank them enough for the opportunity.

Seeing so many friends and strangers simultaneously smilling whilst loosing their shit to the music that Sunday as the day drew to a close.... amazing :) One of those rare moments of truly sharing a musical experience with the dfloor. 

Set itself is a bit rough around the edges but still has a decent flow from melodic techno to cranking techno with dashes of psy here and there. Features a few tracks from moonbeam, max cooper, and electrypnose - hunt down those producers if you havent already, all amazing and unique. Proper Tracklist below.

Dragon Dreaming Main Stage 2013

I've always been impressed by the quality and variety of music at Subsonic, so was absolutely stoked when i was offered the chance to open the River Stage at this years festival - this is the recording of that set. No better way to start such an amazing weekend! Had an absolute blast playing, ended up a journey from quirky downtempo through techno to tasty deep tech-house. 

Mega props to the Subsonic crew for having me on board, and for running such a wicked party.

The crowds at Dragon Dreaming are without a doubt the most passionate and open minded I have ever played to. So when I found out I had a 2 hour slot on that gorgeous main stage system Sunday arvo, I couldn't think of anywhere more perfect for attempting my first proper daytime progressive set at a doof. 

Still did not expect just how much people would dig it and get into the journey. Sun was shining, crowd was grinning and howling. Amazing. You legends are why every year Dragon becomes my new 'favourite set ever' ;)

I can't thank enough the Servants of Sound and all those who continue to help make Dragon the mind-blowing experience that it is.

Gabriel Gilmour - Dragon Dreaming Main Stage 2014

A techno collaboration between myself and my producer friend 'Bones For Dice'. Hopefully the first of many tracks to come :)

This is the first track I ever wrote, almost a decade ago now. The name 'Ascention' comes from an attempt to explore musically what the final stages of life might feel like, as the energy/soul leaves the body, and was inspired partly by Alex Grey's piece 'Dying' (see image).

I lost the project after a laptop broke, but managed to salvage one full stereo bounce of the track. Although side-chaining and EQ are almost non existent there, because of good initial instrument/sample choices I was able to run it through some plugins today and get it sounding decent.

Thanks to another stellar mastering job by Eukali getting it worthy of release, and cheers to Khao Records for giving this song a chance to finally see the light of day.

After a 2 year break from DJing, I was lucky enough to play for the amazing crowds and crew at Dragon Dreaming Festival again, this time as a transition between cranking psytrance and the legendary Doppel. Sunday afternoon, sun shining on the Love stage and hundreds of people out for a boogie - good times!

A recording of my glitch/trip-hop set on the chill stage at Tribal Rhythms doof in 2013. It's still one of the best parties I've ever played at.

This style has been thrashed to death, but it's fun to listen to sometimes, to be taken back to that time. It features some excellent work by a range of primarily Aussie and American artists. Apologies there's no tracklist, shazam is your friend.

Tribal Rhythms (Sunday Chill)

Finally felt the inspiration to record a mix, which ended up being a very small selection of some of my favourite tracks I've played out since my first gig over 10 years ago now.

If you've seen my sets in the clubs or doofs/festivals, you will probably hear a few tracks you recognise, along with some new ones. It was nice change to record a mix just for my enjoyment, rather than preparing for a particular night, sound or venue.

10 Years On

The awesome dudes at Rainbow Serpent Festival got me on board to play a chill set at their 2013 festival in Beaufort Victoria. 
This is the recording of my set from Sunday morning - opens with a few tracks from my journey demo i sent in, and moves through all sorts of chill psy and downtempo sounds.
