Kiara stands at a crossroads between the only world she has ever known and a universe she has only dared to dream about. Earth, with its foggy bays, cracked studio walls, and midnight sessions, has always been her anchor. Now, an alien DJ-engineer named R9 has stepped out of the cosmic dark and quietly confirmed what her heart suspected all along: humanity was never alone in this endless space and this strange, fragile time. That realization became the spark behind her new track, “Solara” – a song born between fear of leaving and a burning desire to see what lies beyond.

“Solara” is the echo of that moment when the question Are we alone? finally receives a soft but undeniable no. The track moves between intimate, human vulnerability and vast, star-soaked soundscapes. Gentle, shimmering melodies carry Kiara’s voice as she sings from the edge of the known world, while darker, alien-tinged textures hint at R9’s influence and the Xyloid sound universe. Every layer reflects her inner conflict: the pull of home versus the call of the unknown, the comfort of gravity versus the dizzying idea of infinite space.

R9’s arrival didn’t just change her life; it changed the emotional gravity of her music. His presence confirmed that somewhere out there, intelligence had been listening, watching, and finally reaching back. In “Solara,” you can feel that shift. Subtle rhythmic pulses mirror a spacecraft’s engines warming up, while Kiara’s vocals rise like a signal being sent into the cosmos. The chorus circles around the idea that the night sky isn’t a silent void, but a living map of possibilities, each star a question mark, each nebula a doorway.

This track is Kiara’s last message from Earth before she boards R9’s ship and heads toward the Xyloid system. She records it knowing it may be the final time her voice resonates inside the old studio that shaped her. There’s gratitude for what this planet gave her – breath, sound, language, memory – but also a shimmering thread of anticipation. If we were wrong about being alone, what else have we been wrong about? What music, what forms of consciousness, what new versions of connection wait behind the stars?

“Solara” doesn’t pretend to have all the answers. Instead, it holds the questions gently and lets them breathe in reverb and light. It captures the exact point between farewell and first contact: one step still on the ground, the other already somewhere among distant suns. This is a track about realizing that the universe is not empty, that the story is bigger than one species, one planet, one voice. And as Kiara’s last notes fade, they don’t close a chapter; they open a corridor into everything that might come next.

Exciting new production outfit Customer makes their EP debut on mobilee, as the collaborative project of childhood friends Alan Fitzpatrick and Reset Robot takes flight.

Both heavyhitters in their own right, Fitzpatrick is one of the scene’s leading techno artists; a behemoth on Drumcode, along with being the latest artist to be tapped to mix fabric’s esteemed compilation series, while Reset Robot (AKA Dave Robertson) remains one of the scene’s most outstanding production assets, co-producing and engineering many of Drumcode’s biggest tracks, together with being a regular on Truesoul.

Together, they wanted to try something different, however. The latest artists to join Anja Schneider’s mobilee – a label renowned for giving its artists creative breadth – Customer showcases the duo in a different light to the big room, main stage personas the pair has built up over decade long careers. 

Their manifesto is to explore the deeper, more atmospheric corners of house and techno and across two exquisite cuts on their mobilee debut, the pair’s intentions are realised. ‘Thirteen’ is lilting and beautiful, almost shoegazy if you discount its driving dancefloor appeal. No wonder it was a favourite of Schneider’s from the moment she first heard a freshly mastered demo last August. ‘Magic Number’ is seven minutes of delicious melodic funk; lush yet unassuming and the kind of track you could imagine soundtracking one of those superb morning set moments where the dancefloor is weepy for all the right reasons. 

The release of ‘Thirteen’ marks an auspicious month for Customer, who’ll make their mobilee gig debut at the crew’s Fact Music Pool series event on June 16 during Off Week in Barcelona.
