Caldera Republic's second release is an edit of the track “Mitamiyo”, released in 1982 by the Senegalese duo Mendes & Mendes.
The original song is a combination of Creole Portuguese-African polyrhythms, American boogie, and Brazilian samba.

Italian native MUSTA presents an elaborate six track LP project, titled ‘Tamburi Parlanti’ which translates to ‘Talking Drums’ in English. The body of work marks a turning point in his career to make more than electronic music, and delves into a plethora of live music and field recordings recorded for the album, ranging from polyrhythmic tribal drum-patterns to Afro-funk bass chords, congas and jazz-keyboard, played by local musicians, as well as himself.

Musta’s love for music began during his 11 years spent living in the Dominican Republic. This encounter of Latin rhythms started the musical genre contamination that to this day distinguishes his productions. In this LP, like the rest of his releases, the music is diverse, tribal and hypnotic. Respectful of the past yet constantly innovative. This love of the past and future has led him to release edits and originals on staple labels such as Nervous Records, Samosa Records and Tropical Disco to name a few.

Music aside the artwork has significant meaning, the mask shown is that of the ancient Mamuthone icon of Sardinian folklore which goes back further than 2000 years, defined as a representation of the collective soul of Sardinia, the ancient ritual of the Mamuthone creatures is that of a rhythmic dance where 12 of the creatures dance together, representing the 12 months of the year. With this theme, Musta aims to connect the dots of this pastime tradition into the album, reflecting it visually as well as through the music itself.

"Tamburi Parlanti LP is a collection of songs that I’ve made myself around the world, recording and collaborating with various musicians of many different nationalities. The music reflects my musical path in recent years which draws strong inspiration from afro-funk and latin disco from the 70s and 80s. My intent is to create music that presents a journey between the hottest Latin sounds, over to more African disco rhythms.” - Says MUSTA on the EP.

Killer Boogie returned to the myhouseradio.fm airwaves with Episode 5 of the De Gama led musical juggernaut. 

De Gama kicks things off in style with a plethora of forthcoming releases from the likes of Strange, Monsieur Van Pratt, Leslie Lelo, Sourires and a sprinkling of new tracks from the man himself. 

Joining De Gama this month as special guest is an Italian producer and DJ who is known for his diverse sound which can often effortlessly flip between Boogie, Afro and Tribal. Musta’s productions always have a unique and fascinating fusion of styles, rhythms and takes. With releases on Samosa, Tropical Disco, Nervous Records and Midnight Riot to name but a few, Musta is very much one of the innovators of the scene, and we've been licking out lips in anticipation of this team up with De Gama.

His love for music begins very early, during the 11 years spent in the Dominican Republic. This encounter, made of Latin rhythms, starts the musical genre contamination that, to this day,  distinguishes his productions. Lover of Funky, Disco, Boogie, Afro, and Tribal, his music portrays a fascinating mix of genres, intertwined in a fusion that combines the old and the new according to a personal reinterpretation, respectful of the past but constantly innovative.

Musta project is rhythm, is exploring, is experimenting: in his pieces, we find a powerful ancestral call, where drums and percussions mark the rhythm, combined with contemporary harmonies from Electronic, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and House music. 

His tracks speak of colours, encounters, and circumstances embedded in the mind, that are introduced to us with a rhythmic charge in continued evolution.

It is not rare to find, in Musta’s sounds, unconventional impulses coming up from the past: it’s here that the imperfections from the vintage recordings acquire value becoming an important source of inspiration, from which Musta draws to create original and innovative sounds, a unique mood that finds an authentic harmony in the artist reinterpretation. 

In 2018, together with internationally renowned DJ Stefano Rittieri, Musta founds the label Viaggio Recordings, responsible to this day for the production of four albums, both vinyl and digital. In 2019 “Mangiamo” is released, a fusion of vocals, Afro, Funk, sax, percussions, and bass, number one for several months in the Afro Latin Brazilian section of the Traxsource chart. 

At the moment, Musta is working with some of the most important labels of the scene and with internationally and nationally prominent musicians of the House and Disco scene.
