Coming off a run of singles and an LP on Ubiquity Records, UK DJ/Producer Tigerbalm (aka Rose Robinson) brings her vibrant global sound to the RNT catalog with the Nina EP. Of the two original songs that grace the A side, Nina is a pulsing boogie affair with driving percussion, catchy chants and punctuating sax, and Sisters is shows a more balearic side of tropical with African guitar work and lilting soulful vocals. The B-side sees two distinct remix takes on the title track, the first by RNT regular Elado who bumps up the tempo for a stomping acidic club mix, and Voilaaa who transforms the song into a driving and authentic classic Zouk arrangement. I was asked to remix this Gospel disco classic and it ended up being the lead track on the promo twelve for the Tirk 02 compilation. Massive thanks to Gilles Peterson and Greg Wilson for their support with this track. It was released in Feb 2009.

Juno review: It's hard to properly define a category for Goldboy's music, but what we can say is that he makes pretty solid house music with a mystical, delicate edge that sits very nicely alongside the whole nu disco spectrum. Being a Bristolian, he's all about the synths and the wavey pads, elements at the core of "Highway 606", both in its original format, and in the more stripped down version by Ourra. Again, "Cungajam" is a delightful journey through space and time thanks to its hypnotic sequence of melodies, and "We Are Serious" changes the pace by going for a more head-down, funked-out kinda vibe.
