Gabriel Sandler (or Gabe Sandler) was introduced to electronic music in the late-1980's growing up in Ann Arbor, Michigan, where innovative Detroit radio DJs like the Electrifyin' Mojo, the Wizard (Jeff Mills) and Gary Chandler took over the airwaves nightly to captivate listeners with unconventional new sounds and artists. Inspired by the more electronic sounds and live-mixing styles of Mills and Chandler, and a rapidly-flourishing "alternative rock" movement in the early-1990s, Sandler produced his first track in 1992 as part of a school project, using ProTools, movie samples, and a Fender Guitar. He took up DJing a year later by splicing mixtapes together, but a serendipitous discovery of a discarded record collection in a dumpster in the fall of 1993 launched him immediately into an obsessive and compulsive career of vinyl DJing and live production. He is now known for his marathon sets, meshing together hundreds of records, and layering influences of all genres, from gospel to country to metal to rap; all with a house, techno and electro groove. Sandler has performed all over the world, on several major continents (including the first-ever professional DJ set in Antarctica), and has worked and performed with legends of all genres such as Grandmaster Flash, Kurtis Blow, Richie Hawtin, Tiësto, Paul Van Dyk, Sander Kleinenberg, Juan Atkins, John Acquaviva, LTJ Bukem, Egyptian Lover, and Jesse Saunders. He hosted two of Texas' most popular electronic music radio shows (MK Ultra and a weekly live club broadcast on WKLB), and has been involved in several studio production projects in Houston, Texas and Detroit, Michigan. His latest studio project, Autoclave (http://www.autoclavemusic.com), has been challenging the norms of electronic music since March of 2012, pioneering and innovating with new sounds and ideas that are intended to destroy all notions of genre and classification in electronic music.
