Excited to drop some fresh ass edits. Been playing these in sets throughout the summer and figured I'd share 'em with y'all. I think the Work Money Death one came out really well. Made this one last night. 

Started the year in quieter place with the intention of staying within that frequency for as long as I could. Got really wound up yesterday though, so needed to unravel with a mantra-like approach.

Suzy Q - Tonight (GAHR Edit)

Low-key disco edit of Mavis John's slinky "Use My Body." An incredible slice of island funk, this scorcher was written by Tony Wilson and belted out by Mavis John, both hailing from Trinidad and Tobago. This rare gem was unearthed and re-issued in 2016 by the folks at Mr. Bongo. I wanted to bump up the tempo a bit and extend some of the instrumental passages to give it a little more dance floor flavor.

Mavis John - Use My Body (GAHR edit)

Unearthed from a prolific period of music making during the pandemic, "These Days" has clearly been waiting for its moment. I did a V1 export of this track and then, unexpectedly, the next time I opened the project, half of the original elements had disappeared. I It was hard to believe, since a few other tracks from the same sessions remained fully intact. I tried to reverse engineer elements and piece the track back together, but I couldn't do it to my liking. 

Are there things on the track I'd love to tweak and "fix"? Absolutely. But there's also something beautiful about living with the track the way it is, arguably in its purest form, a first version untouched by the aimless and frustrating pursuit of "perfect" which usually leads to overproduction.

Tender Buttons and Sultan got together and collaborated on a track for the first time... EVER!  The result is a linear, post-rock, electronic soundtrack about movement, windows, pigeons, hand claps, sleeping, buses, tenderness and, yes, a blanket.
