Roger Martinez’s Higher States opens the spring season by welcoming Hobin Rude to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Serbia, Hobin Rude first emerged in 2020 on the strength of a remix for Jelly For The Babies One Of A Kind imprint. His progressive sounds quickly found favour with the genre's premiere tastemakers in Armen Miran, Eelke Kleijn, Guy Mantzur, Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, eventually leading to releases via Hoomidaas, Juicebox Music, Mango Alley, Plattenbank, Sudbeat, The Soundgarden and WARPP. Also an established DJ, the Belgrade resident has played across the globe, showcasing his keen sense of dancefloor dynamics alongside elite international talents Guy J, Roy Rosenfeld, Tim Green and Volen Sentir, amongst others. With 2025 already yielding key projects for iNU and Mango Alley, Hobin now adds Higher States to his resume with ‘Lunar Bloom’. 

Beginning with ‘Lunar Bloom’, Hobin showcases a groovy melodic approach which sets the tone for the EP. Full of alluring textures and smooth design qualities, the Serbian phenom expertly blends plush kick drums and warm shapely grooves, with haunted vocal refrains, rebounding rhythms and emerging atmospheres, for a captivating path into the break. Further revealing his creative attitude across the interlude, it’s a cinematic array of texture which emerges to reveal bucolic motifs and plucked melodies for a hopeful moment, before getting washed away in a rush of beats and percussion for an uplifting finale.  

The second and final selection ‘Eclipse Harmony’ finds Hobin collaborating with fellow countryman Nikola Jovanovic. Best known for his releases via Balkan Connection and Deep Down Music, the Belgrade resident pairs wonderfully with Hobin, as the duo forecasts balmy textures and panning effects, atop punchy beats and deep pulsating grooves, for what results in a haunting atmospheric journey that’s perfect for the morning hours.

For this month’s guestmix, I have invited my Argentinian friend, Jero Nougues 🇦🇷🙌🏼

Biography: 

Jero Nougues, Argentinean based Du & producer born in 1993. He got attracted by melodies and strong drums and percussion from the Progressive House scene at a young age, listening to artists of the like of Sasha, Hernan Cattaneo, Luke Chable, 16 Bit Lolitas, to name a few. He started producing and DJing at the young age of 13, self-taught and extremely curious about electronic music and how it was made he decided to learn and experiment all by himself.
Professionally and officially speaking his production work started being released around the year 2013.

His music has been played and supported by artists like Hernan Cattaneo, Gabriel Ananda, Nick Warren, Danny Howells, Mind Against, Nicolas Rada, Antrim, Tim Penner, Ruben De Ronde, CREAM, & many more.

He now manages a label called Arcedian together with Jerry Chiu's Droid9 owner, showcasing talents from the progressive house scene worldwide. He has been Ding and hosting radio shows for about 10+ years, going from Deep House/Organic House and Chill Out/ Downtempo to more upbeat sub-genres like Progressive House and Melodic Techno.

Ricky approaches music intuitively. He doesn’t chase trends—he channels feeling. Whether under his own name or as Freedo Mosho, his sound carries a certain calm intensity: refined, soulful, and deeply immersive.

Having performed around the world, Ricky now focuses on fewer, more meaningful appearances. For him, Progressive House is more than a genre—it’s a space for connection, presence, and emotional resonance.
