This audio portrait is part of a collection celebrating the stories of traditional working boats: the craft of the people who build them, their communities and their shores. 
 
﻿The portraits are written and produced by traditional wooden boatbuilder Gail McGarva. Gail’s specialist area is the building of replicas or as she prefers to call them ‘daughterboats’, breathing life into a new generation of traditional craft. Gail has a particular passion for working boats and their heritage. Sadly many of the working boats along the coastline of Britain are under threat and the stories and memories they hold are being lost as the generations pass. These portraits are a celebration of these working boats and their special place in our maritime heritage.
