Save the date. ItaloJohnson are dropping 'ITJ09' on March 31. 

Their last three-track 12" arrived in April last year, giving us a proper tasty treat of jackin' house jams. And that's we dig the Berlin-based trio so much. Whether it's through their own releases or superb selection on deck, they always guarantee maximum funky action. 

So it really is no surprise that their forthcoming record gives us three more banging house cuts to get down to on the d-floor.

Chris Cargo lands on JourneyDeep Records for their 100th release.

Irish long serving DJ and producer Chris Cargo, is a veteran of the underground scene, he started his production career in the late 90s, and has been at the forefront within the electronic music scene ever since. His music has graced Renaissance, Automatic Records, Whoop, Armada Music, Configurations Of Self and onedotsixtwo, amongst many more.

He delivers two originals here, booth oozing of confidence and quality, as you'd expect. Starting with Dawntreader, a hypnotic and deep workout, with subtle warmth looming, over its trippy soundsacpe, full of drive and dramatic flavours.

Next up its 'Distant Mellow, and as the title suggests, an understated sophistication locks you in to its spell, as the blippy melodic patterns merge and melt wonderfully, with a chunky and hazy wash of goodness.

Aphrohead’s first full-length album, Resurrection, in over decade has recently been released, one of the standout tracks ‘Grown Man Cryy’ sees a single release complete with a superb Carl Craig ‘Brainy Grimlin’ rework.

A heavy Detroit influence can be heard in the Aphrohead classic ‘Grown Man Cryy’, fittingly reworked by the master of the techno scene Carl Craig into a pulsating anthem suspended in time. The original cut (as put into words by DJ Mag) acts to “remind the world of the depths of talent and personality that made Aphrohead such a perennial force previously.”

Aphrohead created a precedent in 90's techno on halcyon labels Bush, Global Cuts, Power Music, Thee Black Label & Radical Fear. His Felix Da Housecat alias went on to form the epicentre of the electro-clash scene and it was through this alias his friendship began with Crosstown Rebels pioneer Damian Lazarus, then at City Rockers. Carl Craig is a key player in Detroit’s techno sound, recently releasing ‘The KMS remixes’ and consistently delivering on his own Planet E label. He began recording at the turn of the 1990's, using a number of aliases to release innovative ambient, techno, breakbeat and future jazz sounds including BFC, Psyche, Paperclip People, 69, Designer Music and Innerzone Orchestra. He is also the co-creator and artistic director for the widely successful Detroit Electronic Music Festival.

Isolée’s Arrival

When three people run a label together it is exceptionally rare to find a positive unified opinion of a record upon first listen. When Isolée sent his "Mangroove" EP to Maeve, this was in fact what happened. But it is Isolée after all....

Mangroove came about last summer when The Drifter happened to catch Isolée's live set at a festival in Switzerland. Instantly blown away by the A side "Pisco" he was determined to find out what it was and if it was to be released. After chatting, Isolée suggested that he would send "Pisco" along with a couple of other "demos" to Maeve and a few days later the EP was happening.

Isolée has created some of the most important and beautiful records of our generation and has being a huge influence on what we do, thus we are incredibly excited and humbled to release his work.

This three track EP shows several different sides of the Frankfurt native, from the A-side dance floor catalyst that is "Pisco" to the deeper dubbier B-sides of "L5 Syndrome" and "Mangrove". This is the perfect record to mark our tenth release.

A - Isolée - Pisco

After his successful second album, Revelación, Bufi and Discotexas deliver us their first volume of remixes, loaded with energy, thanks to a well chosen team of star remixers. The package starts with a steady take on “Apocalipstick” by Valencian producer AFFKT, head of Sincopat Recordings, that takes us into a synth psychedelia journey with an epic middle break, just before the climax. Right after that the beat goes solemn, with a thoughtful organ driven mix by Mexican duo Zombies In Miami, filled with laser like percussions, spacey synths and sensually treated vocals, transforming “New Ground” into a oracular esoteric gem. Another Mexican, Max Jones, keeps the groove reflective, exploring the nostalgia of the original “Interlude” synths, chopping the acid lead and adding a “conservative” afro minimal beat. The batch ends with a solid mix by french producer Damon Jee, delivering a severely rigorous steady bassline alternated with confident and faithful uplifting synths; one of the highlights of the original track, “Peaks”.

Breaking the @secretsundaze mini-comp in, @yappinrecords honcho DJ Slyngshot proves the range of his repertoire with the blazing 'Hygh-Tech' - an eleven-minute adrenaline rush of rattling drums, batucada-friendly rhythms and vox-driven NYC house tropes. Rugged and craggy, yet replete with multiple layers of finespun melodic textures and intense tempo swerves, the track constantly shifts and drifts as Slyngshot does what he does best, i.e. keeping the pressure gauge in the red till the batteries are dead for good.
