Grauzone Podcast 011 - Desolate Discotheque

Stolz begrüßen wir zu unserem Grauzone Podcast 11 den Crave Tapes Gründer und engen Verbündeten Desolate Discotheque (ehm. Tizaresh). Seit etwa 15 Jahren schleift er seine Platten durch die lokalen Szene-Clubs in Süddeutschland, ist Resident im Basement Club Reutlingen und Teil der Revolte Crew. Im ersten Kapitel unter dem Titel „Die Erlösung“, veröffentlichte sein Label Crave Tapes die erste Compilation mit verschiedenen Künstlern, die sich zwischen 80er Post-Punk und moderner Body-Music schlängelt. 

Angetrieben von der elektronischen Underground-Musik der 80er Jahre und der Gothic-Kultur, liefert er uns eine ausgelassene Mischung aus Post-Punk inspirierten, dunklen diskoiden Klängen, EBM und Industrial - Aber vorallem liefert das lokale Multitalent einen geradlinigen Four-to-the-Floor-Mix, oder ein fast vergessenes Gefühl von Clubnacht-Geschichten in dunklen und verschwitzten Räumen.

Coming in from Geneva it's Pastram. The Italian-born DJ is a resident at the lauded Motel Campo club nights alongside Audrey Danza and other talented locals in the burgeoning Swiss scene. He brings a beat-driven body music approach to the table that spans electro, EBM, Italo, and industrial. When he is not lighting up HÖR or dropping top-notch podcasts on Meta Moto, he is on the road alongside artists like L.F.T., Jensen Interceptor, GF favorite NVST, and others. Carlos GrabStein, DJ & electronic music producer was born and raised in Mexico City. The beginnings of Carlos in the electronic dark scene originated in clandestine electronic music parties and underground clubs as a DJ in Mexico City, influenced by the classic dark sounds of the New Wave, Obscure minimal and Synth Punk, Carlos developed his DJ style, looking also towards modern fusions of EBM, Industrial/Techno, amongst other contemporary genres. 

Over time the need to keep this music current, whilst also creating his own music project entitled 89s †, led him to take steps in organizing events such as "Oddity Underground”, performing at major European Dark Underground festivals such as Ombra Festival, Krake Festival, Wave Gotik Treffen, Burning Man, Waveteef, Gothic Pogo Festival, Decadence and in his hometown in Daughter of Satan and Cölapsö parties, sharing the stage with artists such as Silent Servant, Unhuman and Broken English Club

After I played one of the Fleisch parties, the Fleisch crew asked me to record the first mixtape for their label's new podcast series, giving me total artistic freedom and no guideline for it. I did not doubt it for one second. I got the perfect channel and the right exposure to show what I respect and what I believe in. I've always thought that art should be political, emotional and true. Only then can it achieve transcendence. 

Recorded with two turntables and a mixer, using vinyl as the only format in February 2018. This recording is a contemporary manifesto. 

A collection of songs that I love and somehow represent me. Mixed rawly for maximum impact. The result is an amalgam that „will confront the comfortable and comfort the disturbed.“

@zanias was born in Melbourne, Australia, raised in Southeast Asia, and after a short stint in London to study archaeology, ended up in Berlin. She unexpectedly found herself singing in the band Linea Aspera, followed by Keluar (with Sid Lamar of Schwefelgelb), and left behind a life in academia to focus on music full time. In Berlin she co-founded the body music collective ‘Fleisch’ and now runs the record label of the same name, while simultaneously writing and performing solo under the name Zanias, which she co-produces with Alex Akers of Forces. In 2016 she released her debut EP on Vienna’s Noiztank label, followed by an EP of remixes in 2017 that introduced her voice into the realm of techno. In 2018 she will unveil a new album that aims to pull listeners deeper into an uncharted wilderness, unbound by genres or trends and purely focused on the distillation of timeless emotions and rhythms. Her compositions are an exploration into human fears, desires and absurd imperfections; an electronically synthesized shamanic summoning and catharsis. Lyrics and melodies crafted with strict intention, to induce an inward journey to the core of what it means to exist and to feel. Let her voice be the guide.
