Huge honor for us to welcome DJ Overdose @jayoverdose to our family. He's one of the pillars of the Dutch electro scene. He is a low-key yet vital artist who hails from The Hague but is based in Rotterdam. His unique take on electro oozes the atmospheres of these famous musical cities. Ever since starting out in eighties, he has been looking to cook up a sense of fun, “where the subs are devastating and the beats are raw.” He underpins his work with booming Miami bass and tends not to look outwards across the contemporary landscape, instead he continues to draw on his love of 80s hip hop for inspiration, then skews it through his own lens.

Famously dexterous in the booth, DJ Overdose has well honed skills that make him able to tear up a larger stage or connect with a more intimate crowd. Electro, Dutch electronics, 80’s pop, Kraftwerk and of course Miami bass can all feature and his deserving reputation has taken him to gigs across the US and Canada as well as key events in Europe.

In the studio, Overdose is a master technician on a range of hardware. By now, he speaks his own language through these machines, whether working solo, or in previous collaborations with the likes of Alden Tyrell or Mr. Pauli. As well as under his own name, he works under alases like Dream Disco, HAEX-HRLL, Extranova and Model Man, but never puts out music for the sake of it.

Instead, he has a small but perfectly formed discography that includes mutant electro funk and ghetto disco albums, as well as EPs that touch on sci-fi tinged soundtracks and more dark and fatalistic adventures. They come on cult labels likes Viewlexx, Pinkman, L.I.E.S., Unknown to the Unknown, Creme Organization and his own RotterHague. It is a label that brings him together with artists from around the world for a series of EPs called ‘Where Cities Collide,’ where sonic similarities and stylistic differences are explored and embraced.

Super excited to welcome Que Sakamoto this week. Fusing Japanese and European folk music with disco, he has conjured up a highly distinctive sound that is rapidly proliferating globally. Back in 2014, he made his international debut at Milan's 65MQ followed by shows in Berlin and Istanbul as well as multiple tours of Asia, Europe, and the US, playing the Panorama Bar as recent as last week. He is a founding member of the Huit Etoiles that pioneered the nu-disco style in Japan while he boasts releases on labels like To Rack & Ruin, Roam Recordings, and others. He's selected his trademark organic electronics fused with disco and biotic textures. Lock in!

Japanese duo @opalsunn, a.k.a. @alexkassian & @hiroakioba, take their love for machine-made electronic music and create free-spirited, intricately-layered musical landscapes.

Since their first studio release on @planetsundae in 2017, they have crafted a niche for themselves with energetic, percussive live sets featuring travelling acid baselines and expansive ambient textures.

Featuring field recordings, esoteric samples, and an unlikely confluence of musical imageries, the duo's Patterns of Perception 45 sees them lingering in warm, brilliant ambient spaces punctuated by irresistibly forward-moving percussive sequences which evoke visions of their homeland.

Kraków-based Olivia is an Unsound resident DJ, always taking on new challenges. The local electro, Detroit and italo connoisseur has had a great 2018, with her debut EP Skawa finally being released, and more international dates appearing in her calendar. Elena Colombi is one of the fastest rising DJs of recent months, known for her eclectic mixes and a fascinating NTS show. The Italian-born artist is based in London, where she came up as a promoter. An open-minded DJ who doesn’t specialize in one particular genre, her dynamic sets are a frantic mix of pulsing techno, freaky disco and proto-house. @elenacolombi and @olivia-ungaro played a b2b set at Unsound 2018. Résident du Sucre à Lyon, il compose ses sets avec autant de patience et de précision qu'il échafaude le catalogue de Macadam Mambo. C'est un ami véritable, qui sait, comme peu d'autres, enchanter et surprendre.
