Leeds’ own disco powerhouse three-piece Galaxians follow-up their critically acclaimed second album ‘Chemical Reaction’ with a fresh collection of remixes that expand on their post-disco vision at a suitably eclectic variety of tempos, moods and textures.

The collection kicks off with the plush percussion of Don’t Need U, reappearing as a deep, dubbed out trip from Leeds’ Hohm studios. Berlin-based DJ/producers Gramrcy & John Loveless contribute another of their occasional remix collaborations, rolling out ‘Heat Of The City’ as a piano-house stormer, pulling back once and again for extra pressure, ultimately exploding with Galaxians’ full live force.

Respected selectors and Gottwood Festival residents Jive Talk ably spin Horizon into a deep, cosmic breaks excursion, flowing full of character and space-age modulations. Haboob & Kubebe drop the tempo and indulge in hypnotic minimalism for their remix of ‘Over It’, unfolding with precision and pleasure alike.

The mysterious Joint Dynamics unit nails a futurist, Detroit-leaning reimagination of ‘Fight For Love’, dissipating the band’s tightly wound vocal and instrumental elements into an almost weightless groove. Finally, we return to Hohm studios for another dub, this time revisiting ‘Heat Of The City’ as an expertly tooled rolling house anthem-in-waiting, loaded with bass-bin wobbling chords and its fair share of vintage rave-whistling. Recorded as part of the Chemical Reaction sessions, 'Tech Noir' has a polyrhythmic, bass-driven house vibe. Combined with Emma's powerhouse vocals, 4 to the floor drums and thick synth lines, it's a sure-fire dancefloor banger.

Jerge is a multi-instrumentalist and producer based in Paris and is associated with Bodybeat, You Man and Christine and the Queens.

Vanity Project is a producer who also runs the Claptrap Records label based in London.

On the silky shuffle of after-hours jam "Work It Out", Emma croons about a lover, her voice cast in a softer, more subdued glow. Second single from Galaxians' sophomore album 'Chemical Reaction'. 

"'Heartbreaker' is a catchy new offering, with those disco inflections matched to some strident indie songwriting.

Beneath this, though, there's a message of empowerment and independence. Vocalist Emma Mason says:

"It’s particularly special to me as the lyrics personify female liberation, that we can dance to the rhythm of our own drum and become our own saviours. I literally feel free when I listen to that track and I want others to feel the same."

'Horizon', the 3rd and final single from Galaxians forthcoming sophomore album Chemical Reaction could be their down-tempo feel-good hit of the summer. 

Emma Mason's soulful vocal floats above Jed Skinner's shimmering synths, with drummer Matt Woodward showing some neat, interweaving drums alongside the DaM Funk-esque drum programming. 

With 'Horizon' Galaxians deliver a message about enjoying the simpler pleasures of life and seeing what's in front of you. It could be their most catchy and accessible song to date. 

'Horizon' will be streaming on all DSPs on 17 June 2020.
