Reggae?) blended with vintage synths tweaking, a unique ability to fuse folk music with electronic elements; all of multi-instrumentalist Dutch producer Solo Moderna can be found in “Pongolongo”; a perfect opening to his forthcoming album “Daïsm”, which was mostly composed with female singer Krage, who effortlessly sings in a delicious mix of English, French, Spanish, Jamaican Patois, Quechua and self-made language. Together, they found their very own way of expressing their love for nature and diversity through universal language.
Pioneer of the “Global Bass” movement of the 2000s, Jazzdance music and Balkan Beats, with three albums and numerous remixes to his credit, signed to labels such as Tru Thoughts or Agogo, the Dutch producer has now reached the next level of mastering the fusion of genres.

Hailing from Tilburg in the Netherlands, Solo Moderna is one of the instigators of the “Global Bass” movement of the 2000s, and a pioneer of Jazzdance music and Balkan Beats. With three albums and numerous remixes to his credit, signed to labels such as Tru
Thoughts or Agogo, the particularity of this talented multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer is to be equally at ease on the guitar, ukulele and bass, than on the flute, vintage “Eurorack” type synthesizers and numerous Latin and Oriental percussions. Recently acclaimed by BBC6 Music among others, his offbeat remixes and covers of digital reggae, electrofunk and 80s classics have earned him to be featured in numerous radio playlists.
For several years now, the artist has been teaming up with French-Colombian label Galletas Calientes Records to produce resolutely Afro-Latin American pieces, and his fourth album, “Daïsm”, expected at the end of May 2024, composed largely with Dutch singer Krage, brings together all these influences.
Joyful, danceable, humorous, offbeat, psychedelic and experimental, the music of Solo Moderna fits perfectly with the lyrics of Krage, who in a post-punk spirit, sings effortlessly in
a language of her own invention: a tasty idiomatic mix of English , French, Spanish, Jamaican Patois, or Quechua.
Difficult indeed to put a label on the artist’s music, or to enclose it in a particular genre, but it is undoubtedly inspired by South American musical styles such as cumbia or reggaeton, by Caribbean traditions such as mento or reggae, modern African rhythms, a certain
European swing, and an electronic and post-punk environment; undoubtedly unclassifiable, but immediately recognizable due to its unique universe and its peculiar fusion of genres and production techniques.

LA RUKA – a committed artist from the Pacific Coast of Colombia

Hailing from the Pacific coast of Colombia, La Ruka is a key figure on the country’s music scene. Blending hip-hop, salsa, Afro-Colombian roots and a wide variety of urban Latin genres in her songs, the now Barcelona-based singer is known for her powerful storytelling and the raw energy she puts in every project she’s involved in. 

With iconic songs such as “No Quiero Marido”, “Todo Es Plata” and her numerous appearances in successful projects like Malecon, Sultana or La Suculenta Chirrimia, La Ruka has been in the game for more than 20 years, and she was singing Salsa Choke before anyone else.

La Ruka mostly sings about women, Afro-descendent women, and day-to-day life on the Pacific Coast of Colombia, mainly the Buenaventura area where she originated from.
Despite her extensive career, she still sings in Colombian and Spanish public transports, carrying her speaker around her neck and improvising about people and cultures surrounding her. 

“Ya Es Hora Pacifico” is probably the first collection of songs entirely dedicated to her raw talent; an EP compiling Dembow, Afrobeats, Hip-Hop and Salsa Choke produced by beatmakers from Colombia, U.S.A and the U.K., released May 2025.

 “En La Isla”, the first song taken from this project, released January 24, 2025, is a celebratory, upbeat anthem that seamlessly blends danceable Dembow beats and ancestral sounds with heartfelt lyrics about celebrating love, encounters, life, and the power of music to transport us to sunnier, happier places. “En La Isla” was produced by Lanzapro (Palmira, Valle Del Cauca, Colombia)

La Ruka’s origin (Afro-Colombian, from the Pacific coast region) positions her to tell stories with authenticity. The issues she addresses in her new single "Desterrados" — displacement of Afro-Colombian communities, neglect of infrastructure, migration pressures — are very much current in Colombia and the global African diaspora. In a time when urbanisation, extractivism, climate change and social inequality intersect, “Desterrados” offers a sonic and lyrical mirror.

From a broader view, conscious hip-hop has always been a site of social critique. What La Ruka does here is localise that critique in the Colombian/ Afro-Latin context, without losing the universal. So even listeners far from Colombia can connect with the themes of dislocation, water insecurity, racism, and hope. In some ways, the song reminds us that hip-hop’s origins as a voice for the marginalized continue in other geographies and languages.

A innovative approach to reggae music. A truly unique fusion of genres.

From Tumaco, Colombia, Plu Con Pla fuses traditional rhythms from the Pacific coast of Colombia such as Currulao and Bunde, with reggae, hip-hop, and subtle electronic beats.

Plu Con Pla is an eleven piece band that brings together two distinct musical concepts, creating something we’ve never heard before.  
On front of the stage, a complete Currulao section sets the vibe with a powerful vocal combo, traditional instruments from the pacific coast of Colombia (bombo, cununo, marimba), and elements of West African origins (Ngoni, Djembe). They are joined by the force of a full reggae ensemble of drums, guitar, bass and keyboards.

The group takes its name from a traditional dish from Tumaco. “Plu” stands for Plumuda, a local fish, and “Pla” is short for “Platano”, the plantain you’ll have on your plate nearly every time you eat lunch in Colombia.

The title of their first EP, “No Mas Velorio”, speaks for itself: “No More Funerals”, sending a powerful message about how the region suffered from the civil war. “We ask forgiveness for whatever it is we’ve done, and we’ll live in the clouds, that way we won’t hurt anyone. We worked this soil, it was our land, but we’ll leave it to you, because we don’t want any more funerals…”

Courtesy of Analog Africa, all original tracks taken from the “Angola Soundtrack” compilation series. Includes 2 that have never been aired and one is a vinyl exclusive. 

From St Lucia to Jamaica to Ghana to Colombia, London born duo The Busy Twist have travelled the globe to create their dance floor killing productions. 

Their debut EP 'Friday Night' combines these cultures, respectfully crossing sound boundaries and joining the dots between Afro House, Kuduro, Latin and Uk Bass. 

The London Luanda Remix Series is the result of digging into 1970's popular music in Angola. Acclaimed by BBC radio host Annie Mac, and supported by the likes of Jillionaire, Buraka Som Sistema or Toddla T, some of these remixes are already being played throughout clubs and parties all over the world, but were never officially released. 

The release of these classic tribal reworks was eventually made possible thanks to the group’s recent trips to Colombia, where they worked alongside Systema Solar, Ghetto Kumbé, Nidia Gongora and Palenque Records, for an impressive variety of original productions, collaborations and remixes. 

In alliance with Colombia-based label Galletas Calientes Records, one of these fruitful encounters, the London Luanda Remix Series was finally materialised.

This Ep of remixes is an outstanding attempt to capture their sun-kissed vibes into a more electronic affair. It features eight remixes of some of the most talented producers from today's Global Bass scene, who re-interpreted the original tracks to their very own ways, in every possible electronic genre you can think of.
