The title actually refers to drinking fine scotch whiskey straight up - therefore naked!
From Laura Risk's liner notes: Little is known about the history of this beautifully-shaped pentatonic tune which appears in Oswald's "Curious Collection" (Edinburgh, 1740) and later, turned into a minuet, in the Gillespie manuscript (Perth 1768).

Gallowglass is a contemporary Celtic folk band from Bellingham, Washington featuring two vocalists, Irish flute, harmonica, Irish bouzouki, and bodhrán. 

The band was formed on the evening of St Patrick’s Day, 2014, by Jan Peters (vocals, harmonicas), Zach Bauman (bouzouki), and David Lofgren (bodhrán). Joined by Mishon Kirkland (vocals, flute) in 2018, the group has found inspiration in the reinterpretation of traditional folk music with a focus on vocal harmonies, unique instrumentation, and compelling arrangements. 

Gallowglass has been playing small venues, festivals, weddings and other events in and around the Pacific Northwest since their formation.
