For ladies' night on the TechnoGecko, I was inspired to create a set that featured femme artists. All the songs except the first one are by womxn/femme producers and/or singers.

The words that kept coming to me included: playful, bratty-nasty, unapologetically femme. And I wanted the vibe to feel a bit acid-y, glitch-y, machine-like sounds (they informed me that the Techno in their name refers to Technology, not Techno). 

This was my first time playing on an art car, and it was amazing. Thanks for listening.

GAL @ TechnoGecko - Burning Man 2023

This set was recorded live in El Pescadero in Baja, cradled between the Sierras and the sea, shadows cast under the moonlit palms, at Palmar’s NYE SHINE party. 

The vibe that came to me for this set was electro-jungle-groove—nostalgia and moodiness contrasted with punches of congas and bongos. 

It was the first time I was brave enough to embody Rick Rubin’s advice to put the audience last—to intuitively play what I wanted to play, not what I thought they wanted to hear...Risky for a DJ, but it totally worked. 

I felt one with the dancefloor—a channel for the goddess of dance, a conduit for our collective catharsis. It was awesome.
