There is a pads part in this track which recalls me a lot the the Simple Minds sound of the eighties. So I decided to call the track Simple Maids, which sounds very similar to the band's name.

I experimented on this track some dark synth sounds and drum machine textures.

Chemistry

In this song, I aimed to blend simple electronic bass lines and synth melodies with electric guitar riffs. I used both my Stratocaster and the Jacaranda TL, while all the other sounds were produced using the AKAI MPC Live.

Morning in Como

"In photography, exposure is the amount of light per unit area (the image plane's illuminance times the exposure time) reaching a frame of photographic film or the surface of an electronic image sensor, as determined by shutter speed, lens F-number, and scene luminance. Exposure is measured in lux seconds, and can be computed from exposure value (EV) and scene luminance in a specified region." (Wikipedia)

"Exposure" is an instrumental track titled to emphasize the importance of exposure in the art of photography. Drawing inspiration from my passion for photography and the beauty of Lake Como, I aimed to create a sonic landscape that balances creativity and technical exercise.

On the one hand , I tried to weave together musical elements that mirror the delicate balance and interplay of light and shadow in photography, and on the other hand I tried to evoke the powerful presence of wind and water. I tried to communicate the solidity and strength of mountain rocks that dominate the Lake.

As an integral part of my "Sounds from the Lake" playlist, "Exposure" serves as a sonic homage to the grandeur and generosity of Lake Como. Each track in the playlist represents my intentional pursuit to capture the beauty of this enchanting location, that provides me all the time with great inspiration.

I recorded the guitar solo using my '97 Gibson SG Standard.
I Recorded and mastered the track on AKAI MPC.

Exposure

Verkehr
In this track I am trying to fit together the sound of the Strat with the synthesizers available in the #AKAI #MPC. For example, the second verse starts with a #Strat arpeggio followed by a synth #arpeggio. 
An arpeggiated Strat is present also on the chorus, and it is stereo-balanced with the synth pads.

All the effects applied on the Strat are stock ones available in the MPC, and the pre-amp is done by the #Marshall DSL-1. The overdrive on the guitar is generated by the DSL-1 #tubes.

I am experimenting the usage of #synthbass, using two different tracks, for #subbass and for bass. I like the thick sound I get from this approach.

I doubled the melody on the chorus on different octaves to have a bigger sound, and I think it works quite well, please let me know what you think in the comments.

I like a lot the intro-outro which is harmonized using 11th chords with the synth - mainly #Hype - and and with the Strat.

The title Verkehr is a German word that means traffic. I shot the photos in the #Verkehrshaus museum - museum of transportation in Luzern, Switzerland.

In this composition I experimented a reduced number of tracks, thanks to some sound patches which sound very big, like the brass-synths of the Hype Synthesizer.

I used two guitars, the Strat and the half hollow body, Italian made Jacaranda, which has a Telecaster shape and features a warm big single coil pick-up on the neck with sound creamy and lively.

The drums come from the stock instrument samples provided by the MPC bundle.

Visual Art

The instrumental track I'm presenting is a blend of electronic and pop sounds with rock riffs and solos played on my Strat. I used the AKAI MPC Live for recording and the MPC Software for mixing and mastering. All the instruments are plugins on the MPC.

Hot Guzzis

"Echoes 9" is the ninth track in a collection titled "Echoes" and composed by my friend Stefano Causo in the late nineties. He asked me to produce some of the tracks, and my choice fell on this one. On one hand, it was the track that I liked the most, but on the other hand, it was the least accomplished in terms of variations and the main composition.

I had to play all the instruments from scratch because there were no available stems or original tracks of any sort. In any case, they had been recorded on a cassette multi-track recorder, making them unreliable.

While I retained the main structure of the composition, I added a guitar solo, a couple of rhythm guitars, and an improvised arpeggio played through the Hype synthesizer included in the MPC. All the sounds and effects come from the AKAI MPC, while the Fender Stratocaster I used was amplified and given crunch via the Marshall DSL-1.

I am thrilled for the opportunity Stefano gave me to work on this composition, and I truly enjoyed its production.

Echoes 9

In this song, I enjoyed blending the electronic tones of the bass synth and MPC-embedded synthesizers with the warm sound of the Stratocaster. The stock drum kit is kept simple and dry in the mix, adding to the overall texture.

This song marks my first production featuring a vocal track. I sourced the vocals from Voclio.com, where I discovered the original song, composed and performed by the marvelous artist Enlia.

My goal was to create a darker atmosphere for the melody. To achieve this, I replaced the synth with an electric bass, incorporated Mellotron background choirs, and added double tom hits inspired by the brooding vibe of Billy Idol's 'White Wedding'.

Insanity

I decided to double the guitar arpeggio in the chorus to enhance the sound. The two guitars play the same arpeggio, panned to opposite channels in the stereo field. A combination of stock delay and reverb completes the effect.

For the verse, I chose to use an electric guitar and an electric piano. I composed two arpeggios that blend well together. The guitar has a clean tone, with the usual slight natural overdrive I typically set on the crunch channel of the Marshall amplifier.

I added another verse using guitars and synth bass. I like the simplicity of the sound created by these instruments. The synth bass comes from the Bassline included in the AKAI MPC stock plug-ins, while the Jacaranda and Fender Strat handle the rest.

The title of the song was inspired by the concept of "Mediocristan" as explained by the economist Nassim Nicholas Taleb. Mediocristan represents a world where outcomes are generally predictable and fall within a narrow range, with no extreme deviations. It's a contrast to "Extremistan," where rare, unpredictable events have massive impacts.

This track is inpired to the Valcava pass, which is located in Lombardia, in the provence of Bergamo at an altitude of 1340 mt.
It connects the San Martino with the Valle Imagna valleys.
