I played a tune on my electric guitar and painted some loops and samples around the tune to make a backing track that sounded good or okay enough at least. There are some nice tunes in my guitar and some of them come forth here, I think. But all in all the track is too long.. 6 minutes seemed okay in the seventies, though!

Strange Thoughts

A lead guitar plays nice melodies over a simple backing track (drums, bass, keyboards). Vocals are so last millennium, this is the modern nice music were the guitar speaks to those who know how to listen. Play it once, why not play it again?! Four times you listen to this and then you want to listen to it again. As they used to say back in the day: turn on, tune in, drop out!

This is the result of me doing a live performance in my own room/studio, just playing my electric guitar over a backing track made with bass and keyboards and no drums or drum machines. This is music you play when you want to stress down and relax a bit. I think it is quite beautiful some places, but obviously the track is way too long for almost everybody these days. Back in the seventies it would have been considered 'normal'. Music meant to be nice, be nice everyone, okay?!

"Time is an illusion" was played in my father's funeral 22 May 2024. It is a slow, meandering and quite melancholic track that fit the event  surprisingly well. My father was a good, solid man and I miss him quite a lot. My mother died ten years ago, so I am an orphan now. Very strange to be the grown-up, suddenly I belong in the  eldest generation of the family. BUT TIME IS AN ILLUSION. Yes.

Recorded live on a Smartphone by my assistant (or wife) whithout telling me that she was recording. This music came into being when I played it in September this year (2022), I just play something and it so happens that sometimes sheer luck may cause a piece of good music to be recorded. Not here, though.

5 minutes 40 seconds of music with a Roland doing the rythm, a couple of electric rythm guitars, a lead guitar and the vocals are one main and two background harmony vocals. This track was written by a very depressed, frustrated and angry young man - but that was yesterday, I am so much younger now.

Bass and Roland rythmbox made in 1984 backing a freaked out Fender Stratocaster that howls infernal digital sound effects made in 1984. This you have not heard before.

This track  was meant to be titled ‘Ambient House”,  but as the pop worked, the work popped…I am so grateful for all the plays, likes and comments this track has gained and I would like to thank you all, individually, but my health  is not good and I must focus my waning energy on important tasks like breathing and keep myself from becoming another extinct life form like the dodo bird. Some of you have time, some of us have almost no time. No one gets out of here alive, you know.

Pop Ambient House Work

My lyrics and a long prompt got 30 seconds from Udio, adding 4 more sections and pruning them down to what I was looking for. My first collaboration with an AI is quite professional sounding stuff that I could not have played or sung this well. I think this is a song that I made since I wrote the lyrics and the long prompt and made many desicions all the way from the start to the finished song. This will probably become the most used way to make nice shiny tracks for mass consumption next year, but I think that handmade music will be made because it is nice to do and the machine is a ...machine. ... maybe... but there is still time to dream!

I have recorded and made public here my attempt to create a good and somewhat heavy rock song: "Do it again (Annie Teardrop)". That version is  me playing all instruments - 3 guitars, 1 bass and Roland from the 1980ies doing what sounds like drums. I even sing the whole song (sorry)with 4 verses (too many). But then I found a collaborator amongst the artificial intelligences (this too is made with help from Udio) that took my detailed promt and ran with it, the song "Annie Teardrop does it again" is the result of several dozen 30 seconds long bits that I had to artfully pick out the best pieces from, those most like what I had in mind. Lo and behold:  the machine plays lead guitar very much like I would have done myself (well that was a mighty statement).I think this is a very good track. I hear music AIs have been sued by the big corporations that own the rights to most classic rock/pop/soul and so on - all music made. But I think this song is more like my own version to be found here somewhere, than any band I know - I know many, not all, though. Does this song sound like Nickelback? No! Someone else? MY lyrics and MY prompt and MY choices makes this MY song, or does it? Hmmmmm

I wrote the lyrics and tried several different music AIs to see if they understood my prompts, and this is the one that did - this is my words that I have made to c ome alive with hours of trying to make the machine understand what I aimed for. Hope you like this too-

This is a song I made way back on now lost tapes, but I had written lyrics and spent several hours coaxing Suno to make the song sound a bit like it should, in fact I think the machine collaborated very well in making this song driven by power-chord, dynamic soundscape and some parts are solid rock and some parts are more like a pretty pop song. Another version of a tune I played on my guitar once and dressed up in contradicting soundscapes - I must have tried a dozen arrangements and not one of these functions well as music. I use both house drums and traditional rock drums, for instance, so it should sound a bit 'fresh', but is just sounds half dead.

I play some guitars, bass, a bit of of keyboard and some rythm tracks and this is more or less basically improvised. Possibly backwards.

These lyrics I wrote when I was in big trouble, but the words are still calm and contructive and paints a reality - mine - on a biv canvas for anyone to look. Music was played by robots after being trained by my prompts dozen of times, I try to fix smaller things and sometimes makes a new melodic structure close to the old one, there is a logic in this helpful aduio app but god he knows I'm not one who reads manuals. Hope you find something nice in this song.

I found this version too good to not let folks listen to it, so this will show those who think it's easy to use the Suno AI to make music: first I wrote the lyrics and then I spent several hours vith the AI and got songs that were mostly good at killing flies. Here is 2 minutes where two lead guitars fill out the track with nice cooperation as they jam for only 2 minutes over two simple chords. It's fun to improvise a lead over another improvised lead I recorded the day before and didn't remember much of when I played the number 2 lead guitar.  NB! Vision of flirting guitars

Just an old rythmbox (from Roland) laying down a beat that a quick, tidy bassriff fits over, and then these two guys plays guitars - this was actually a 'band' called Tonedeath, where this young and going up guitarplayer flings off more notes in a second than most do in a minute - Kyrre Trohjell at the age of 18/19 and this old geezer who steered Badtripp into the abyss, Geir Arne Moi, at that time 32/33 years old. We did not plan songs, we just played them as they came. "Motorbass" is Moi mostly on bass and Trohjell doing the lead guitar. Recorded on a Teac 1980-cassette based 4-track 'studio'. Traditional rock track with verses and choruses and a verse with lead guitar, but this track goes on way too long and should have been cut into a song half as long, but I do not have the master tapes or the 4-track cassette mixer/recorder any more since this song was written and performed by one person exactly 30 years ago, in 1992. Do not expect quality at any given place here. There is a Roland machine doing its thing, and one bass and 3 guitars and one vocal on top of the Roland. I played and did my best at singing, I even wrote the song... The sound of one man trying his best doing things he barely knows how to do...

This is actually filmed live and the live sound from the mixer goes straight into ..a smart phone. Here, as you might notice, is only the soundtrack. It me - G.A.Moi - playing guitar over bass and drums and some keyboards. Very nice music, this is well played improv over themes that also are well known. So it is.

Just playing with samples and here I made a short piece of sample-based 'music' that many people actually say they like to listen to. Well, 'many' should be understood in the context of a not perfect musician with great misgivings to my tracks and whether they are songs people should be spared for - what you don't hear you cannot get traumatized by--! Give the track a spin and see what you think.

Toadrip

Driven by samples and live mixed by me who barely understand the concept of sampling, although I am trained in live mixing. I usually play everythig myself (my band members back in the 1980ies have kind of disappeared as I moved around a bit, but all counted more than 12 musicians have at one time or another played in Badtripp. I do guitars and bass, some singing, produce the thing and even add keyboards some few places. Many people would say that I really should not make music this way, or any way. But you know, I just have to make music. Learn to live with my weird habits!
