Time is a Monster

A friend of mine asked me to sing a couple of songs at his wedding. He had a specific song he wanted me to play for their first dance, but told me I could play whatever else I wanted. So, I worked up this version of one of my all-time favorite hip-hop songs and surprised them with it. It was a huge success at the wedding, and it's been in my repertoire ever since.

This particular studio session was interesting, to say the least. My buddy Dean Morton dragged a portable studio with him on his KC-10 aircraft that he was Flying Crew Chiefing on their trip to Ramstein Air Base, where I was living at the time. He showed up to the house with  rugged metal suitcases in hand, and we proceeded to rig up the garage with mics.   We only had one afternoon to record the songs that me and Justin Gates (the lead guitarist in the recordings) had been working on, so we went to work. We had a blast. It is one of the best memories of my life and one that I will always cherish. I am very happy to have these recording to remind me so clearly of the good ole days.
