Plainfield Slim & The Groundhawgs is a very raw, hypnotic, Mississippi type juke joint blues band. Band members include Lee Fink (from Nasty Ned and the Famous Chili Dogs) on slide guitar, fellow Doughboys Myke Scavone on harp, and Mike Caruso on bass, and Myke’s little brother Rocco Scavone on drums. Plainfield Slim & The Groundhawgs have recently released their second CD “When The Devil Hits Home” after much global success from “Another Mule In The Barn” the first Plainfield Slim album. Songs such as Dirty Girl, Moan, Hideout, Marlene, and Sweet Jesus have been receiving airplay around the world as well as here in the US.

"For years I've been going back and back into the history of music,'' Francis said. "A lot of artists I admired were into Elmore James. Fleetwood Mac used to do James' stuff and The Beatles, Stones and Yardbirds can all be connected to it. I said, "Let me go back to the real guy and see where all this stuff came from. I'll try it myself.' ''
Well, Slim went back and he kept more than a little of that thing. "Another Mule'' has all the spirit, moxie and attitude of the early bluesmen and then some.
"The whole thing started as experiment in my studio basement, then I played it for a few friends, a few open mics and people really picked up on it,'' Francis said. Another Mule In The Barn was recorded in 2006 and the guitar I used was the one my dad gave me back in 1963, a Silverton Sears Guitar. I love that guitar and I strongly belief that the success of my first cd has a lot to do with that guitar. 
Struggling blues musicians of the 1940s and 1950s first popularized the Silvertone guitar, with legends such as Muddy Waters and Arthur "Big Boy" Crudup among those who played Silvertones. This all fitted nicely in what Francis wanted to accomplish by going back to the roots of the blues musicians. Silvertones were popular with young musicians because of their solid construction and inexpensive pricing. Their legacy lives on today as literally hundreds of Internet pages are filled with fond recollections from people of their first guitar, the Sears Silvertone. These guitars are considered prized pieces of many guitar collections, particularly models such as the 1963 "amp-in-case" guitar, which featured an amplifier built into the guitar's carrying case.
Another Mule In The Barn" is receiving airplay in Europe and Australia, as well as here in the United States, Francis reports. 
Why "Plainfield Slim?'' "I always liked names like Memphis Slim,'' Francis said. "There was no one from 
Plainfield named Plainfield Slim so I'm going with that.''
Plainfield Slim & The Groundhawgs bring a kind of excitement to the stage that is like no other blues band in the area. The songs are simple and right to the point and can make a grown man cry.

Zombie Garden Club Album Sample

The song “Take My Hand” was recorded at Mountain Dog Music Works Recording Studio in Oak View, California. 
The final mix for the song was finished on August 25, 2015. 
The musicians on this song are: 
Mike Angelette on Hammond Organ, Piano, Guitar, lead and backing Vocals. 
James Boland on Bass Guitar, Bill Brogan on Lead Guitar, and Tim Herrera on Drums.
 
Producer/ songwriter/ Grammy member Gar Francis is well known with his band the Doughboys, the latest Garage Rock release album by Mark Lindsay (former lead singer of Paul Revere& The Raiders) and writing the Coolest Song In The World on the Underground Garage Sirius/XM Ch21, but is also known for having original songs available from his extended music library of songs in multiple genres. 
A couple of months ago when Hizreturn signed with Bongo Boy Records, James Boland shared with Monique Grimme how Hizreturn came about in writing the song on the Deliverer album called “Forever More”. James told Monique that Mike Angelette had written the music and James wrote the lyrics for the song. She then presented James with Gar's song called “Take My Hand”. Gar Francis had written the music with a chorus and was looking for a band to finish the song. Over the next few weeks James worked on putting together the music with lyrics and wrote one verse. After recording the first demo track it was suggested the song needed  a second verse which band member Mike Angelette did. Hizreturn completed the final mix of the song Take My Hand.  In writing the verses James wanted to build on the idea of Jesus being our example for leading us through this life on into eternity in heaven.
 The lyrics for the first verse come out of John 14:2 in the Bible.
