Wow wow wow what a gig! My first time playing at the awesome Kiezburn, and to such a big crowd, and I really loved it :) Thankyou thankyou to all those who danced and smiled and enjoyed this, I know I definitely did!  Cant wait for the next :)

Greetings Earthling!

This is not our first flight into the great unknown. And it won’t be our last for sure. 
Darkness all around, only broken by billions of little dots of light. 
No fear, only wonder.

Guided by the ever so mysterious Danger Dave we fuelled our cosmic vehicle and set the coordinates for an unknown galaxy. 

Why? 

Because earth is (always) facing imminent attacks by space monsters and Dave is not only experienced on the drums, but also in interstellar travels and ray guns. With all the terrors earth itself holds, he started training for this expedition at a young age, thinking “If everyone is just looking what is happening around them, who will protect us from the dangers that hide behind that curtain of stars?”. 

Accompanied by old companions and accomplished cadets Gun!lla, Oilst, mf jaeger and malauke the danger will be reduced to a bare minimum. How lucky we are to have these heroes and with your support the mission will be a full success.

Danger Dave — Space Monsters (Oilst Remix)

Drifting - a movement with no certain direction… As a drifter you may move with ease and a calm mind, or you may find yourself on a mystical journey into the unknown, you’re never quite sure... These feelings of uncertainty have inspired our dear friend Kyle, aka @captures, when he began working on this EP three years ago. At that time his journeys had drawn him to Berlin where he found himself searching for a community to resonate with. With a bit of drifters fortune, we found each other here and there as the events and parties around Voodoohop and UCR brought him a sense of home: „Everyone seemed like wild characters in a play on some type of exotic underground that created a narrative free from boundaries. I loved the psychedelic atmosphere those days combined with electronic and world music sounds. Those experiences contributed a lot to this album and to who I am today.“

We’re pleased that our communities have provided inspiration that has led us to work with Captures on releasing this beautiful soundtrack. A soundtrack for all the drifters out there.

May this EP be seen as a dedication to not only the weightless feeling of floating but also to carry confidence and optimism on our paths to explore the great unknown. As Confucius said, „The journey is the destination“.

Next up in our series from Deep Blue Shifts in October 2024 is Océane @oc-ane-0 - who took us on a very dreamy & other-worldly journey with her expert curation of songs and sounds. We are getting lost in a hazy abyss just re-listening to it now, and we're excited for you to experience it too. 

A few words from Océane: 

"Under soft pink and violet shades, Lava Lounge opened its doors last month for us to explore. It was truly a pleasure to bring an Oceanic touch to this space.

With this set, I am taking us into different spheres, blurring the boundaries of reality. I used pre-recorded sounds to accompany the musical selections of the trip. Nature sounds such as birds, wind and waves, as well as synthesized sounds of cosmic sequences, immerse us completely in the story. Each carefully selected sound tenderly carries us away from everyday life.

Für Weihnachten sollte es einfach mal was ganz anderes werden. Deswegen hab ich „Tales From The Woods“ gebeten mir was Besinnliches für den 24.12. zu vermischen. Dabei herausgekommen ist ein Swing-Set der besonderen Art.  Danke Eric für deine kreative Umsetzung … erstklassig.

Und sonst … naja ich wünsch allen meinen geneigten Hörern, Follower, Freunden und anderen Menschen eine ruhige oder feierreiche Zeit. Aber keine Angst eine Folge gibt’s noch in diesem 2015 … lasst euch überraschen.

"I’ve always been sensitive to my surroundings and the world is in a very vulnerable place at the moment. I felt I needed to express my true emotions through something a little bit different to a conventional DJ mix and also that just writing one song was not going to be enough.

It was almost like composing a score, the only difference being that the pictures were only in my head. My ambition was for the music to evoke a visual response in the listener rather than just an emotional one. To do that I took some audio snippets of real life current affairs scenarios that really struck a chord in me and then used my DJ instinct to think of a track/musical piece that would fit well to that particular scene. Sometimes when I couldn’t find exactly what I wanted I added my own music over existing music or did my own sound design to create my own sound effects and also wrote some original pieces in the moment. It was very important to me to create ultimate flow and I felt this could only have been achieved without having any beats supporting the music. I also didn't want to make it eclectic nor constant as I felt that would disrupt the listener’s focus emotionally. There is a strong dynamic range throughout similar to classical music and also some parts that are almost meditative and then in contrast some more intense moments.

In today's podcast Intiche brilliantly combines the old and the new. From his own and friends' treasure trove and he walks with us in the footsteps of Alexander the Great. However in this podcast Intiche highlights Alexander's more honorable goals - international understanding, freedom and an unwavering belief in oneself and one's own abilities. The deep beats carry us like Bukephalus carried Alexander on his jet-black back from the Oxident through the Orient to the distant shores of the Indus. A journey through mystical sand seas over high ridges and impenetrable jungles. A journey full of secrets and adventures. The honey sweet melodies drop incessantly rhythmic and form the driving beats a breathtaking synopsis on the frequency of which you can almost slide into nirvana. However we must accuse Intiche of one thing. He conquers our music loving hearts by storm. It is hoped to enjoy more of him in the future.

Have you ever gotten lost in thoughts and dreams while gazing at the night sky? Those celestial bodies sparkling in the deep dark blue have caught our attention and driven intrepid explorations since the dawn of time. The mysterious immensity surrounding our beautiful little planet has always stimulated our fantasies: scientists and philosophers have found challenges in it, while artists have found nourishment for their creativity. Our talented friend mUnO seems to fall in the latter category, since he told us that astronomy, the night sky and the concept of infinity itself, serves as the inspiration to create ‘cosmic soup’, which is the way he describes his own sound. mUnO is the borderless project in constant evolution, launched in 2015 by Gonzalo Urtizberea, also known as Gurtz and 1/2 of Kermesse. Gurtz formed mUnO as a way to express himself without stylistic constraints and to experiment with new instruments and samples. His latest EP, Mareas, meaning ‘tides’ in Spanish, includes two enchantingly melodic original tracks and four lively vibrant remixes by none other than Lagartijeando, Vruno, Betelgeize, and Señora. The beautifully diverse styles brought by these incredible artists blend perfectly with the motifs of the originals, adding some spicy beats to the cosmic soup. We at UCR are honoured to serve such a delicious meal to you, dear sonic diners, so please enjoy it…or should we say ‘¡Que disfruten!’.

Garasadah Records is a Nepali Label which was founded in June 2017. The founders once met there on a volunteer journey. So the decision was made to establish the label as a Nepali label as well as to support the volunteer organisation, they worked for, with every income the label will make. This music label focusses on transnational sound productions. Especially cultural diversity and the implementation of indigenious sound fragments are characteristics of its music. However the confluence of generic downbeat and house elements as well as world music is no longer contradictionary but a certain style of symbiotically revel. Garasadah persues the approach of holistic music. This approach will been seen in the art of covers, the style of texts, the handling of management and at last, of course, in the implementation of music. The sound of Garasadah is produced in 432 Hz so that the music reflects the beat of life and swing in the rhythm of our cells.
