Risa Taniguchi (CLR / Second State / Kneaded Pains)

Risa Taniguchi is arriving at the forefront of the dark techno wave that has washed over the underground in recent years. The Tokyo born - and based - artist has spent the last four years cultivating a lo-fi sound of distorted textures, fizzing synths and a quietly burning energy, which consumes all who hear it. Preferring to play sets which are "late night, for the weirdos", Risa has a knack for getting crowds in a nocturnal trance, before delivering shocks and surprises with a curious motif or unpredictable element. For those who like to cut loose in a dark environment, she is the perfect selector. 
In the studio as well as the club, Risa focuses on the drums, programming kicks that bring visceral and often aggressive thrills next to a uniquely addictive layer of well designed snares and hi hats. Her signature has become her own subtle and intriguing vocal samples, best heard on Slipped My Mind and This Guy. She adds layers of acid bass and an always raw, edgy aesthetic. Having experienced them first hand whilst living in London, in 2010, Risa also has an enduring love of underground UK bass sounds, which can be heard in many of her tracks. The multi-talented act is also formally trained and a skilled player of the piano, who continues to play daily. 
Since her first release back in 2018, Risa has attracted high profile interest from A-list players Amelie Lens, Dense & Pika, Pan Pot, Perc and Daniel Avery; has hit the Top 5 of the Beatport's Leftfield Techno Chart and played everywhere from De Marktkantine in Amsterdam to Watergate in Berlin, and of course all the most revered spaces all across Japan including Contact, Womb, and Vent. 
Despite the pandemic, the recent years have proven to be a high watermark for Risa as she has delivered a continuous flow of new music, primarily on Pan Pot’s Second State and on Dense & Pika’s Kneaded Pains. With both of these mighty techno duos giving Risa their support and platforms, it has enabled her to start taking her first major footsteps into Europe, picking up her first headline bookings there. 
In 2022, she teams up for the first time together with Black Asteroid, a former engineer for Prince, and the duo will deliver three gritty, hard-hitting techno tracks on Chris Liebing's CLR.

Maxime Iko is a parisian and self made DJ and producer. Born in 1982, he was at first a passionate clubber, fascinated by music, hanging out in Paris clubs like Rex Club or Le Pulp. Passion for music soon became voracious and took over the rest. In 2008 he started mixing at the famous Paris club „Les Bains Douches“ with Dj Wild. Then producing in 2011 when he joined Steve Lawler’s label Viva Music with his first release „Voiture Pullman“. His music is influenced by his interest in cinematography, in gothic and gay culture. Pitched down vocals, atmospheric Synths, slapping claps & funked up basslines. Whatʼs most important to him in music is groove & sensuality. Maxime Iko initiated in 2011 the gay party „Cockorico“ at Rex Club, Paris with Stefan Beutter mixing techno and sexy people. In 2014, they created „Le Bal Con“ mixing all kinds of crowds dancing like crazy to the sound of electronic music and enjoying outrageous art performances happening on stage or through the audience. Maxime played with DJs like Ellen Allien, Miss Kittin, Vitalic, Oliver Huntemann, Gui Borrato, Marc Houle, Efdemin, John Talabot, Todd Terje, Marc Houle, Heartthrob, Troy Pierce… In 2012 Maxime started a new experience designing the sound dressing of Steffi Christiane’s fashion show in Paris. In 2015 he started a collaboration with french producer Markus Gibb (Lumber Noire) creating 3 EPs under the name IKO&GIBB on the label Tici Taci. He’s now joining Bpitch for an upcoming EP.

Born, raised, and based in Patras, Greece, Alexskyspirit’s experience with the decks started in the early 00s in his hometown clubs and bars, blending his early influences of dark, progressive house with psychedelic trance. As he gradually honed his production skills and started shaping his musical identity, he shared the stage with some well-established names over those years, such as Edit Select, Keith Carnal, Charlotte De Witte, Dax J, Oxia, and Robert Dietz. His self-released and label-released material caught the attention of respected individuals from a broad techno spectrum, the likes of Amelie Lens, Joris Voorn, Abstract Division, Fabio Florido, Pan Pot, Deepbass, Ness, Claudio PRC, and Blazej Malinowski, who played his tracks on various occasions. Finally, this can also be a perfect example of how his sound shaped where he stands as a producer now.
Following the previous summary is a look down on his activities, music, involvement, and inspiration. First of all, his focus and sonic environments are weaved and led by his affiliation with the coldest season of the year, the echoes and the grey scenery during rainfall, the colourful and noisy urban landscape of the city traffic, and the impactful, awe-inspiring creations of architectural nature. His sound has a light, gentle approach combined with minimal elements of hypnotic ambience, distorted textures, and cinematic pads to conjure an aesthetically-pleasing yet deep atmosphere. As for his activities, in 2014 and for three years, he was a co-owner, event organiser, and promoter for Cube Events. Once this was over, he started experimenting with Ableton and had his release debut that same year. Then, in 2019 and after a handful of EPs, he joined the hypnotic and deep techno movement. 
So far, his releases are on the catalogue of Edit Select in which he is also a label artist, Khoros Records, Circular Limited, Planet Rhythm, Paul Ritch’s Quartz Rec, Aarden Records, Bahn Records, Node Recordings, Artscope, and Postdynamic. In chronological order, the first label release was the Parasite EP in Planet Rhythm’s catalogue in the last month of 2020. Then, in the first quarter of 2021, two debuts followed with District X17 in Quartz Rec. and Waldweg Room in Postdynamic Records, having his original tracks enhanced by Gotshell and Hattori Hanzo remixes. In the heart of the spring, Edit Select welcomed Alexskyspirit to its ranks with the deep and hypnotic Kill The Signal EP. His second release to Planet Rhythm came shortly after with five original tracks in the Mystagogia EP, harnessing further his heavy yet atmospheric sound. To finalise this productive year, he released the track Defracted in the Subjective five-track compilation by Barcelona’s Node Recordings and, in the middle of summer, with Wielde Narve in Seoul’s Artscope he presented a fine example of how his deep and hypnotic productions matured.
The upcoming year was also very positive release-wise for Alexskyspirit, having an outcome that reflected well on him regarding collaborations. In January 2022, Windenland came out on the Belgian label Aarden Records with two of his original tracks getting a remix by distinguished names in the genre, Svarog and Polygonia. Next, the first of the three EPs that later on established him as a label artist on Glasgow’s Edit Select was Subtonal Origins on the first of February. Afterwards, Wormhole EP on French Circular Limited was well-received among peers and fans, followed by his debut Dystopia to Khoros Records which caught the attention of the critical and impactful to-the-scene channel Hypnotic Techno Circle, which wrote a short review on Khoros’ Bandcamp. The Fundamentals is the next chapter on Edit Select with four six-minute tracks, and once more, Circular Limited presents 0456 EP, a new addition to its catalogue, which was also his first release in 2023. Finally, Transmissions is his most recent creation, the last of Edit Select’s EP series so far, which provides a good overview of where Alexskyspirit currently stands in terms of production and aesthetic.

protoU, Sasha is a trained violinist and choir vocalist who grew up with an addiction to music. Her first ventures into her own productions were a strong mix of distorted electronics, a far cry from her classical background. With the studio foundations in place she started producing a multitude of related genres like drum n bass, ambient and electronic music. Inspired by the dark ambient people in her life she surrounded herself with she slowly drifted into the scene and started turning her productions towards the depths. She has described dark ambient as something that gives her a freedom of thought in relation to the complexity of the world of wonders, a mix between the simple and the difficult.
