Never Was - Stop The Invasion

-professional mathematician by day and amateur composer by night (time permitting--I am also a father of two beautiful young rascals)

I grew up in the Florida Keys where both of my parents worked as musicians in the entertainment business, so I was constantly exposed to the inner workings of good music.  My grandmother taught me to play the piano at an early age.  I ended up pursuing a career in mathematical research and teaching, but in my free time I enjoy composing music with a current focus on compositions for solo piano.

I like Soundcloud because it's a friendly community for sharing our music. If I like what I hear when I stop by your place I'll definitely like or comment! I try to say what it is about your track that affected me, something about the way you wrote or produced it that had an emotional impact or that impressed me musically, or both...or in other ways! I think that's why things work so well here. I have a bit of a musical split personality, mainly writing music in two different styles: pop/rock songs, and jazz-rock fusion/prog instrumentals. Main instrument is guitar - currently PRS (SE), Yamaha Pacifica (see picture), Ibanez 6-string acoustic, Maton 6-string acoustic, Seagull 12-string, Yairi classical; I also play a Fender P-bass on most of my tracks.

I am drawn to folk, blues, and country music, and love the Irish, English, and Scottish ballads of long ago because they tell stories that are often timeless, and most everyone at anytime can relate to.

Memories of people, places. and events throughout my life influence the songs I write.
