Harder Than Blue (John King/RoyRoy)

There are stories of strange noises coming from top of Roan Mountain on the border of western North Carolina and east Tennessee. 

Some say it’s fairies, angels or even ghosts singing, but others say it’s the way the wind blows around the mountains.

I have been to this site, but have never heard anything myself.
But I have felt the gentle breeze on my face.
As I closed my eyes I imagined what it might have been like to be there and hear those sounds.

I try to capture the spirit of the moment that I was there with this music. I hope you enjoy.

The Eclectic Collective – composition

This song began with JJ, as many of our songs do, who composed the outline on the keys, drums, and bass. He then let everyone else in on it immediately. Ken was first up to bat by laying his always cunning drums in there. After he had a beat to work with, Josh used his tree trunk of a five-string fretless bass to complete the rhythm section. Soon after, Tez and Stephen both laid their magical guitars in there. Once we had it all in the can, Stephen used his powers of production to give us a great mix.
  This one came together relatively quickly, which is a good sign that we're all enthusiastic about what we're creating. We hope you enjoy listening to this as much as we enjoyed making it.

Dancing On The Ceiling.

The hole that was loved!!
Gone but not forgotten....for many Sheffielders this 'near-brutalist' structure (see picture) remains a fondly-missed refuge and meeting place. Hole int' Road (to use the proper vernacular) was built in 1967 but filled in in 1994 to make way for the new tram system. Officially called Castle Square Roundabout it occupied the site of markets going back to 1296. The site is now a tram stop, with just distant memories of the subterranean meeting place with its benches, shops and even the famous fish tank. Shame indeed!
