Dirty Epic presents its seventh episode of the Amplify Series podcasts, this time welcoming @radioslave aboard.

Matt Edwards is a bonafide powerhouse of underground dance music. Over the course of more than fifteen years, the Berlin based artist has established himself as a leading A&R, influential producer and esteemed DJ, all with his own unique and immediately recognisable style. In that time, Radio Slave has emerged as his most celebrated alias. It has seen him evolve from remixing pop tunes into someone with a distinctive musical identity that focusses on high pressure, slow release sounds that cannot fail to lock you in.
That famously loopy and hypnotic brand of house and techno is built on a solid bed of kicks and often interlaced with hypnotic vocals. It has taken him to high profile DJ sets everywhere from Fabric to Womb to Cocoon, as well as being a regular at Berghain and Panorama Bar where he has hosted his own Rekids label parties since 2007.
Ten years later came a first ever Radio Slave album, Feel The Same. It was a stylistically broad affair that made the most of the album format to show off all the different facets of Edwards’ musical personality. Across thirteen productions it touched on grinding and strobe-lit rave cuts, deeper, stripped-back headfucks, slick electro jams, mid-tempo jungle breaks and tripped-out house efforts. All of these sounds and more feature in one of his DJ sets, which are absorbing, heavily layered things that pull you in over and over again.
In 2017, Edwards’ Rekids label hit its 100th release with a special EP from Matt that featured two typically monstrous and club-slaying tracks in ‘Another Club’/‘Feel The Same.’  These follow on from modern classics like ‘Grindhouse,’ ‘Don’t Stop No Sleep’ and ‘Bell Clap Dance’, which were ubiquitous club hits that solidified Radio Slave’s long form and absorbing production style. But of course, the label has not only been the outlet for Edwards’ own work: it is also a place that he has proven his rare knack for A&R time and time again thanks to signing now internationally celebrated talents like Nina Kraviz and Mr G.
Alongside all this, Edwards—who is still a hapless musical fanboy at heart—has established plenty of other projects, most notably Quiet Village with Joel Martin. Focussed on downtempo sounds infused with elements of ambient, dub and synth music, it recently spawned a much-loved remix of Agnes Obell and promises a new album in 2018. It is sure to reflect yet another side of Edwards’ expansive sound world that also takes in major label remix work for the likes of Kylie, Paul McCartney and Elton John, as well as underground favourites like Dinky, Scuba and Aphrohead.
Whether making, playing or A&Ring music, Edwards always disregards the zeitgeist. For that reason he remains a timeless talent who sets his own essential agenda.

Timo Maas is a storyteller. For him, it’s never about back-to-back bangers or brainless hits, but about crafting, building, teasing and eventually pleasing. From hefty concrete funk to stripped-back and brain-altering techno via psychedelic synths stronger than any drug, he knows exactly what to play and when. He has done so at every major club and festival on the planet from Tomorrowland to Kazantip, Creamfields to Coachella, while for 17 years during the golden years of Ibiza’s Circoloco party at DC10 he was a regular guest, which is a testament to the fact that he has always stayed ahead of the times.

Two-time Grammy Award-nominated Timo has made every shade of electronic music from famous remixes of Azzido Da Bass and Depeche Mode, leftfield reworks of Afro-Peruvian group Novalima and Indonesian all-female heavy metal band Voice of Baceprot via work with pop greats like Paul McCartney, Madonna and Placebo. But his pure love of techno keeps him coming back to his most famous sound. It’s all united by his ability to craft weighty bass and rolling drums that lock you in. To dream up unusual breakdowns, freaky vocal treatments and deftly designed details that sound like nothing else. He has released on majors like Warner and Virgin and underground staples like Stripped Down Records, Cocoon, Mobilee, Tenampa and Last Night On Earth. But whatever he does and wherever he does it, Timo is always investigating new musical grounds.

The only time any of us had previously seen Tiefschwarz was when Mikey Lion saw them at the closing party of Space Ibiza back in 2009. Following some insanely epic sets by Guy Gerber and Steve Lawler on the Terrace Stage at Space, Tiefschwarz laid down the best set of them all to 5000+ party goers in the middle of a torrential rain & lightning storm. The madness of the atmosphere only added to the vibe and the music as people were straight up losing their minds dancing on the completely flooded dance floor. It’s hard to imagine having a vibe and atmosphere that’s more electric than the circumstances surrounding the closing party of one of the best clubs in the world. But you know what? The vibe was better at Desert Hearts.

Coming from South France and currently based in Berlin, Perfo (real name Thibaud Guillemin), has found his creative home amidst the chaotic and inspiring electronic scene. Drawing on his diverse cultural influences and immersive experiences, Perfo's musical journey is a testament to his ability to seamlessly blend different worlds into his sonic palette. 

With releases on esteemed labels like Mord Records, Hayes Collective & NRBK, Tommy Four Seven’s 47 imprint and Illegal Alien Records, Perfo has quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned within the emerging music landscape. His tracks are characterised by an evocative collage of textures, stirring atmospherics, and meticulously-crafted percussion, capturing the essence of both his origins and his eclectic surroundings in Berlin. Celebrating a recent electrifying set at Tresor, Perfo's ready to arise within the European electronic music scene, prepared to unveil his mesmerising sonic universe to audiences far and wide.

Born in 1980 and raised in the Detroit area, Luke Hess has harnessed a deep appreciation for electronic music and the expression of the underground movement. His background in mathematics and engineering has given him a scientific approach to the dance floor, using frequencies, tones, and soundscapes to transform surroundings and mood. 

His faith based music production has landed him numerous vinyl releases (EP's, LP's, and remixes) on labels like Planet-e, Rekids, FXHE, Echocord, Kontra-Musik, Dolly, Finale Sessions, Ornaments, and Prime Numbers among others. His debut album was
released in early May 2009 by Denmark based label Echocord.

 In 2010 he began his own interpretation of Detroit techno with his Detroit project and record label - DeepLabs. His sophomore
album “Keep On” was released on FXHE records in 2012 and received a Recommended 4.5/5 rating on Resident Advisor. 

With 20 years of DJ experience, he is regarded as a perfectionist behind the decks layering his tracks in a very detailed and hypnotic manner. Luke has played at many notable venues and festivals in Europe, Asia, Australia, and North America including numerous appearances at the illustrious Berghain/Panoramabar in Berlin. Luke’s continued hard work in the studio and as a music collector/curator combined with his unyielding interest in technology and sound will no doubt stimulate the boundaries of electronic music.

Mauri has been mixing for the last 7 years and is a resident at Before au. Four years ago he began learning music production in Ableton. He is also the co-founder of Deeper Label Records and has released music on other labels as well such as Redlof, Misolarec and Technological Records.
