Spacecake International began in 2016 with a chance meeting of musically-aligned minds: Orlando Lund (from London), and Sergio Cocchi, Pepe Ragonese & Pancho Ragonese (from Milan).

The compositions on Spacecake International’s “Unicorn Street” album come primarily from a collaboration between two experienced songwriter / producer / musicians - Orlando "The Don" Lund and Sergio “SirJo” Cocchi.

Guitarist Orlando, who has produced and written classic acid-jazz-funk albums with the famously 'off the wall' London soul-funk-jazz collective "The Big Cheese All Stars", and later with singer Sheela Gathright under the name "Palma Groove Project", shared stages earlier in his career with artists such as James Brown, Gil Scott Heron, Roy Ayers, and Fred Wesley. He brings together all his influences from Space-Rock to P-Funk, from Soul to Acid Jazz and has contributed guitars, electric bass, drum programming, keyboards, and many of the backing vocals on this album, whilst also taking care of all production and arrangements.

Singer Sergio lived and studied music in Los Angeles, and has collaborated with artists such as singer Lisa Fischer (Rolling Stones). He has also written, produced and released 2 albums as singer of the funky Milan-based "Founda©tion" project. His incredibly soulful voice, and easy lyrical style is carried on the back of his crisp, accurate, multi-layered backing vocals. His wide dynamic vocal range handles deep baritone to Prince-like falsetto, and includes all the grit in between.

The songwriting duo are ably abetted by virtuosic instrumental performances on all the tracks from Pancho Ragonese (piano and Wurlitzer electric piano), Pepe Ragonese (trumpet), Pep Lluis Garcia (congas and percussion), Pablo Di Salvo (additional bass) and Miki Ramón (tenor sax).

The “Unicorn Street” album is an honest look at the human condition and relationships, whilst also being a scathing take on what it means to be here on Planet Earth in 2019. Fusing Jazz, Psychedelic Soul, Space Rock, Funk and in-the-pocket Grooves, with Steely Dan-esque and Zappa inspired arrangements, Spacecake International take you on a musically exhilirating ride down Unicorn Street - a journey you will want to repeat time and time again.
