Gareth Anton Averill is a musician, composer and sound designer, working across multiple platforms. 

Aside from a life-long passion for music, Gareth also holds a first class honours degree from the National Film School. Here he studied every aspect of film-making, leading to a compositional style that feels deeply rooted in the heart of the film. Gareth believes in the power of film music, and the importance of understanding the medium. 

For commercials, Gareth carries the same beliefs as with film work. He works to bring original, effective music, to brands, clients and agencies, and will not engage in 'soundalikes', cheap knock-offs or cliches. 

Gareth is also known for his interest in vintage electronics, tape machines and hardware, preferring to work in a tangible and organic workflow. He equally embraces strings, world instruments and orchestral. As a self-taught cellist, his playing style is unusual, yet organic. 

Gareth Averill is also a prevalent performer and producer on the Irish music scene, working with artists such as Somadrone, Solar Bears, Valerie Francis, Jape, David Kitt as well as producing electronic artists such as Magic Pockets. He has also been an important facilitator in the return of his father's synth pop band, The SM Corporation. In the summer of 2013, they performed live for the first time in 30 years with Gareth adapting their songs for the live setting.
